The Cleveland Browns have selected three more players on day two of the 2020 NFL Draft and they went straight defense after addressing their offensive tackle in round one. The draft was largely chalk for Cleveland, with most Day 2 selections following their needs.

Here’s how the selections of Grant Delpit, Jordan Elliott and Jacob Phillips are getting graded around the league.

CBS Sports provides a grade for each pick, including the following for Grant Delpit:

“Grade: A-. First-round talent. Tackling issues. But intimidating size. Instincts and ball skills in coverage. Great value for team that needed safety help.”

Jordan Elliott:

“Grade: A-.  Very active, heavy hands. Plays a bit high and is a good, not great athlete. Love the technical side of his game. Browns need to get more upfield penetration from the interior of their defensive line and got that type of player with Elliott.”

Jacob Phillips:

“Grade: B-. Phillips is an athletic, jack of all trades is a master of none. Very reliable tackler and battles hard through blocks to stay upright. Rarely on the ground. Love his large tackling radius. Has the smoothness to cover, however not much production there. Quality depth with starter upside for Cleveland.”

Below are the grades provided by The Sporting News for each of the Browns’ selections:

Grant Delpit:

“Grade: A: The Browns are reshuffling at safety with veterans Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo, but they get a truly dynamic upgrade, especially with a value pick like this. Delpit (6-2, 213 pounds) flies around the field, stopping the run like an extra linebacker and making big plays on the ball in downfield coverage.”

Jordan Elliott:

“Grade: A: The Browns address a need in their interior defensive line to upgrade from Larry Ogunjobi. Elliott (6-4, 302 pounds) plays with power against the run but also has proved to have natural interior pass-rushing skills.”

Jacob Phllips:

“Grade: C: The Browns lost Joe Schobert in free agency and needed some solid depth initially with some upside for their linebacker corps. Phillips (6-3, 229) provides that, but may not be athletic enough to be a reliable cover man.”

And of course our friends at Draft Wire supplied us a grade for Delpit as well.

“Two picks, two big needs, two blue-chip players for the Browns so far in this draft. A great start for a team hoping to bounce back from a disappointing season. GRADE: A”
