USA TODAY
Four of the six writers go with BYU and the two that are picking the home team Hawaii it is Jace Evans and Eddie Timanus.
Los Angeles Times
The Rainbow Warriors began the season by knocking off Arizona and Oregon State. They’ll get another shot at a name program in BYU on their home field and will get just enough defense to beat the Cougars. Hawaii 28-24
The Action Cookbook
Logically, the robots had directed much of their initial assault against military installations. They planned to cut off humans’ ability to fight back before they even knew what was happening. A commander at Pearl Harbor understood this quickly, and was able to send two nuclear subs into hiding on the seabed before the island was overcome. The robots would find them within hours, and the seafloor would be their grave.
CBS Sports
Both of these teams are unpredictable, but I like BYU in this spot. You have to wonder how fired up Hawaii will be for this game considering it’s being played in their home stadium. BYU, meanwhile, is good enough defensively that it should be able to slow this Hawaii offense down. Don’t be surprised if BYU drops eight into a zone coverage a lot like it did against USC earlier this season. If Hawaii takes care of the ball, it can beat BYU, but as I mentioned, Hawaii rarely takes care of the ball. Pick: BYU (-2.5)
ESPN
BYU faced a much tougher schedule, finished the season fairly strong and boasts more high-level talent. But Hawai’i is playing at its home stadium and will challenge the Cougars with quarterback Cole McDonald and a balanced offense. McDonald’s recent inconsistency concerns me, though, and I like Zach Wilson and BYU to generate enough points and yards against the Warriors’ defense.
Prediction: BYU 37, Hawai’i 31
Athlon Sports
Two go for BYU and one for Hawaii.
