The 2022 British Open (known as the Open Championship) is coming this week, with the best golfers in the world — Tiger Woods!! — teeing it up at St. Andrews’ Old Course.
And apparently, the fairways at the links course are going to be firm. Not even like slighty-squishy firm. We’re talking: Asphalt, concrete, wooden-floor firm.
A few videos are circulating on Monday as practice rounds have started and champions are taking their swings. One shows the sound that a club smacking the fairway makes and the other shows how much balls will be bouncing.
And, yeah, it’s looking very firm out there. Check it out:

Also, there’s this:
I have touched down in Scotland and my Uber driver is PUMPED about a firm, fast Open:
“It’s so burnt out, I normally drive it 240 and right now it’s going 300,” he says. “They’ll have bump and runs all over the place, which is how it should be.”
He’s betting on Spieth.
