The Tennessee Titans have a load of impressive talent on their current roster, but are any of their players good enough to make the top 100 players of 2020 list of CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco?
Well, two apparently are. Running back Derrick Henry (No. 69) and safety Kevin Byard (No. 94) both made the cut on Prisco’s list.
Here’s what Prisco had to say about both players.
Henry: “He led the NFL in rushing and then was dominant in the postseason. He is a bruising back who keys the Tennessee offense.”
Byard: “His play slipped a little from 2018, but he’s established himself as one of the better young safeties in the game.”
Two of the Titans’ 2019 draft picks got recognition as players who “just missed” Prisco’s list, including wide receiver A.J. Brown and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, which we can live with.
The biggest snubs are easily quarterback Ryan Tannehill and left tackle Taylor Lewan, both of whom didn’t even get a mention in the “just missed” category.
Lewan has been a top left tackle for years now and his performance speaks for itself. While he did get off a rough start after a four-game suspension in 2019, Lewan slowly rounded into form as the season progressed.
Tannehill revived his career with the Titans in 2019 and earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.
He finished first in passer rating (117.5) and second in completion percentage (70.3), all the while tossing 22 touchdowns to six picks and being the catalyst that turned the Titans’ season around from a 2-4 start to a playoff berth.
Furthermore, every advanced metric out there shows Tannehill was an elite passer and not just some guy who simply hands the ball off to Henry.
