The semifinalists for the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame class have been announced. The Pittsburgh Steelers landed two players on the list and one glaring omission.

Wide receiver Hines Ward and guard Alan Faneca both made the cut while tight end Heath Miller did not.

For Faneca and Ward, each has been a semifinalist five times and hope both can finally get in. But first, they have to make it after the Hall of Fame committee narrows the list of semifinalists down to 15 finalists.

The 2020 class will also be inducted next year after the ceremony had to be postponed due to COVID-19. Steelers in that class include safety Troy Polamalu, former head coach Bill Cowher and safety Donnie Shell.

Not including Miller in the semifinalists borders on criminal. But we have to accept Miller was never the dynamic receiving threat that catches people’s eye. It’s hard to saw if his day will ever come but for Ward and Faneca, we have a good feeling they will finally get the call.
