“To win this conference by two games is an incredible accomplishment.”-Brian Dutcher

San Diego, CA –  The No. 18 SDSU Aztecs (24-6, 15-3 MW) defeated the Wyoming Cowboys (9-21, 4-14 MW) 67-50 at Viejas Arena in front of a sold out Senior Night crowd.  With the win, the Aztecs clinched the Mountain West regular season title outright.  As black and red confetti fell, the Aztecs celebrated with fans, and then got down to business by cutting down nets.

The Senior Night ceremony honored eight players: Aguek Arop, Matt Bradley, Keshad Johnson, Nathan MensahAdam Seiko, and walk-ons Jared Barnett and twin brothers Triston and Tyler Broughton.

Johnson can return to play a bonus year, but he is undecided about coming back, transferring or going pro. Let’s hope he returns next season.

Jaedon LeDee, had an epic night, scoring 21 points on 8 of 9 shooting and eight boards and two blocks in 24 minutes.

The bench went 30-6 against Wyoming, once again reminding everyone that the Aztecs have one of the deepest benches in NCAA basketball.

Seiko had 14 points including eight straight in the second half, and went 4 of 5 behind the arc. Bradley had 11, including an obstructed 3 from the corner.

The Aztecs held the Cowboys scoreless for seven-plus minutes in the first half, and managed to limit leading scorer Hunter Maldonado to three points on 1 of 11 shooting.

The Aztecs blocked a season-high nine shots and dominated the boards 40-28.

The Aztecs never relinquished the lead after Arop scored the first layup, and for the entirety of the game the Aztecs maintained a 10-20 point lead, before winning by 17.

The Aztecs appear battle ready for next week’s Mountain West Conference Tournament where they will be the #1 seed and play for a record 16th title.

The Mountain West Tournament takes place from March 5th to 11th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The San Diego State Aztecs are your 2022-23 Mountain West Conference regular season champions.  The Aztec Nation congratulates SDSU and coach Brian Dutcher, who again find themselves at the Top Of The Mountain.
