Kevin Loughery is a familiar name for New Yorkers. He played college ball nearby at St. John’s University and in the NBA for three teams, averaging 15.3 points per game. Loughery was the player-coach for the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers after Roy Rubin was fired. He went 5-26 in that season. As an Americans/Nets coach, Loughery coached more than 600 games. He won two ABA titles: one in 1974 and another in 1976.
