You know the supermoon of July is one of the biggest and best you’ll see lighting up the night sky around the world.
And the 2023 edition didn’t disappoint.
This week, we got the first supermoon of 2023 — there will be four this year — and this one is known as the “buck moon.” And why is that? From USA TODAY:
July’s full moon is called the buck moon because this is when deer antlers are in full growth after shedding during the spring. “Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by,” the Old Farmer’s Almanac said.
