S DeShon Elliott
Elliott has shown some flashes of something great in his limited time with Baltimore. However, injuries have derailed his two seasons with the Ravens, limiting him to just six games and 40 defensive snaps (113 special teams snaps). With Baltimore bringing back almost all of their defensive starters — and all of their starting secondary — from last season, Elliott could see even more competition for his roster spot this year if they add to the group in the 2020 NFL Draft.
I pointed to safety as being one of the positions the Ravens should start looking at for the future. While my focus was on eventually replacing Earl Thomas, selecting any safeties in the 2020 NFL Draft is going to make that room a lot more crowded, and with Elliott’s injury history, he might not be a lock to make the cut. Even if Elliott doesn’t get outright replaced on the Ravens’ roster, he might not be viewed as the eventual next big thing for Baltimore’s secondary if they grab another safety.
