Xavier Worthy, Isaiah Neyor land on 247Sports’ top WR duos for 2022

247Sports released their top 10 WR duo projections for 2022. Where did Worthy/Neyor land?

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian completely revamped the wide receiver room this offseason.

Over a handful of pass catchers entered the transfer portal at the conclusion of the 2021 season, opening several spots for Sarkisian’s staff to fill. The Longhorns went and snagged Wyoming’s Isaiah Neyor, Alabama’s Agiye Hall and Iowa State’s Tarique Milton via the portal.

On top of the talented new additions, Texas returns star playmaker Xavier Worthy and do-it-all wide receiver Jordan Whittington at the position.

It’s now become one of the strongest position groups on Texas’ roster, which is an incredible improvement over last season where the Longhorns failed to find a consistent No. 2 receiver behind Worthy.

Brad Crawford of 247Sports recently released his top 10 wide receiver duo projections for the 2022 season and he’s very high on the combination of Worthy and Neyor.

Crawford projects Worthy and Neyor to combine for 136 catches, 2,227 yards and 25 touchdowns this upcoming season. Here’s his reasoning behind those numbers:

Texas added one of the transfer cycle’s most prolific wideouts this spring, grabbing Isaiah Neyor from Wyoming after the skilled pass-catcher averaged 20 yards per catch last season for the Cowboys. He’ll be paired with speedster Xavier Worthy, who was named to the All-Big 12 preseason first-team this week after managing 981 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns as a freshman. Steve Sarkisian is going to get the ball in Worthy’s hands in various ways this fall, similar to what he did with DeVonta Smith during the former Alabama star’s Heisman season. This will be the Big 12’s most lethal combo if Quinn Ewers is the real deal.

Oklahoma was the only other Big 12 school that cracked his top 10 wide receiver duos for 2022.
