Why Jets fans should be excited about Breece Hall

Breaking down what Iowa State running back Breece Hall brings to the New York Jets

After landing three blue-chip prospects in the first round, the New York Jets kicked off Day 2 of the 2022 NFL draft by trading up for another, moving up two spots at the top of the second round to land Iowa State running back Breece Hall.

The clear-cut top running back prospect in this year’s class, Hall is a first-round talent who only fell to the second round because of the position he plays. He has a complete skill set that should allow him to make an immediate impact at the next level.

Hall’s combination of mental and physical traits made him one of college football’s most productive runners throughout his career with the Cyclones. He put up huge numbers on a consistent basis, setting multiple school and conference records. Along with a stellar combination of speed, explosiveness and power, Hall also has a fantastic blend of vision, patience and instincts.

He now joins a Jets offense full of young talent and potential, and should team up with second-year back Michael Carter to give the Jets a dynamic duo in the backfield.

There are many comparisons between Hall’s skill set and production that match well with Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor, another running back who could have easily been a first-rounder, but slid to the early second round back in 2020. If the Jets’ offensive line can continue their upward trajectory of devlopment, there’s no reason to believe Hall can’t have the same kind of impact Taylor has had early in his career.
