Which Steelers FA loss hurts more in 2023?

The Steelers lost two key starters in the secondary this offseason.

NFL free agency is less than two weeks old but the Pittsburgh Steelers have given several positional units full facelifts. Pittsburgh has signed multiple new starters but also lost a handful. This includes two starters in the defensive secondary.

Cameron Sutton developed greatly over the last two seasons into the team’s No. 1 cornerback. But rather than pay him what he was asking, the Steelers let him sign with the Detroit Lions. And for Terrell Edmunds, he’s been rock solid at strong safety over the last two seasons but based on the fact the Eagles only signed him to a one-year contract, it’s pretty obvious the Steelers didn’t want him.

Pittsburgh signed Patrick Peterson to replace Sutton. Peterson is a tremendous talent and should be a great bridge player for a season or two. Peterson doesn’t have the versatility of Sutton and is older but his resume speaks for itself.

Pittsburgh is planning to replace Edmunds in the starting lineup with Damontae Kazee. Pittsburgh re-signed Kazee this offseason and as long as he can stay healthy, should be able to do everything Edmunds could.
