Erick Smith of USA TODAY doesn’t like the Spartans’ chances of beating Rutgers on Saturday based on his latest bowl projections.
Smith released a new batch of bowl projections earlier this week, and he did not include Michigan State in the mix. The Spartans had previously been projected to end up in the GameAbove Sports Bowl in Detroit, Mich.
Michigan State is 5-6 overall and comes into this final weekend needing a victory over Rutgers to reach bowl eligibility. The Spartans haven’t been to a bowl game since the Peach Bowl in 2021.
Kickoff between Michigan State and Rutgers is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
