Where every SEC head coach was in 2006, the last time Alabama did not have Nick Saban on its sideline

Where every SEC head coach was in 2006, the last time Nick Saban was not on Alabama’s sideline coaching.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban will not be on the sidelines Saturday coaching against Auburn.

He tested positive for COVID-19 this week. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Steve Sarkisian will handle game day decisions in place of Saban.

Saban began his tenure of Alabama’s head coach in 2007. He came to Alabama after serving as head coach with the Miami Dolphins.

The last time Alabama did not have Saban on the sideline took place Dec. 28, 2006 in the Independence Bowl. Joe Kines served as interim head coach for Alabama after Mike Shula was relieved of his duties.
