What in the world is going on with the Kansas City Chiefs?

The Chiefs don’t look good at all right now, which is wild.

We’re seven weeks into the NFL season and I have to think the most confusing team has to be the one that entered the year as the favorites to win the Super Bowl – the Kansas City Chiefs.

Yesterday Patrick Mahomes and Co. went down to Tennessee and got blown out by the Titans, 27-3. It was an ugly game from start to finish for Kansas City, whose offense couldn’t get anything going and whose defense, which has been terrible this season, never recovered after giving up a TD pass by the great Derrick Henry.

The loss drops the Chiefs to 3-4 on the season and has to have us all now wondering if this team, which has been to back-to-back Super Bowls, can just make the playoffs this year, which is wild.

Any look for answers as to why the Chiefs, who haven’t won two games in a row this season, have looked so blah so far has to start with their defense. These stats alone paint quite the ugly picture.

In the past Mahomes has put up such crazy numbers that defense in Kansas City could be an afterthought. But not this year and because of that Mahomes and the offense have to be near perfect or they will be in trouble.

Mahomes has been very good this year, he’s just made some mistakes and some bad throws that haven’t gone his way like they have in the past. People saying he’s regressing or that the league has “figured him out” are just silly and wrong. Neither of those things have happened. He’s still the guy everyone would want to take with a first pick, even if he has just 4 TDs and 5 INTs in his last three games.

Something isn’t clicking with this team right now and it’s hard to understand why, especially with all the proven weapons they have on offense.

Andy Reid perfectly summed things up after the game when he said “I’m seeing things I haven’t seen before.”

I think we all feel that way when we see this very good team put up such bad numbers and results like they did on Sunday against a good Titans team. I mean, they trailed 27-0 at halftime, which was the largest halftime deficit in Mahomes’ NFL career. That’s not good. Not good at all.

The good news is that they get to face the Giants in Week 8 and should be able to get a win over that brutal team.

But after that they get the Packers, Raiders, and Cowboys, which will be a tough stretch that could put their playoff hopes in very serious jeopardy.

This is all something I sure didn’t see coming when the season kicked off seven weeks ago but here we are, and here are the Chiefs sitting at 3-4 and tied for last in the AFC West.

Insane.
