UNLV is still in second place despite losing its two first place votes. This week Boise State and San Jose State each earned first place votes but it is still Air Force in a commanding lead.
The Broncos have been the most volatile team all year. They have been in first place, seventh place, fourth place and probably a few other spots this year through six of these polls.
Utah State in its loss to BYU did move up a spot as they showed fairly well in Cooper Legas and his debut start, but our staff is still hedging on how good the Aggies could be.
12. Hawaii (LW: 12, 18 points)
The Warriors were off last week and that might have been a good thing to figure out a couple of items as they enter league play.
11. Colorado State (LW: 11, 20 points)
The Rams really need to hope this is just growing pains for Jay Norvell and the offense will come into play at some point this year.
10. Nevada (LW: 10, 24 points)
The defense is doing good enough but the quarterback situation and offense struggle against good teams.
9. New Mexico (LW: 8, 45 points)
The Lobos play Wyoming this week and are seeking its third in a row over the Cowboys. Kendrick Miles showed up better and he actually might be the difference in that game.
8. Utah State (LW: 9, 49 points)
Cooper Legas looked above average against BYU and the team hung around with a top 20 team but ultimately loss. Was this a case of getting a first-time start and playing a rival or are the Aggies looking more like last year than the loss to Weber State this year?
7. San Diego State (LW: 6, 69 points)
This could get a lost worse since the quarterback situation is not ideal for the Aztecs with injuries and transfers.
6. Fresno State (LW: 3, 70 points)
Logan Fife looked baaaaaaad and this team really needs Jake Haener back soon, along with other offensive key players who missed time.
5. Wyoming (LW: 6, 77 points)
A little bit of inconsistency reared its ugly head with a poor quarterback performance by Andrew Peasely as the Cowboys fell to the Spartans.
4. Boise State (LW: 7, 1 first-place vote 90 points)
We could basically repeat what was said for Utah State here. New offensive coordinator and new quarterback. Was this a one week boost for the Broncos or is the offense back to being good?
3. San Jose State (LW: 4, 2 first-place votes 100 points)
The Spartans and Brent Brennan are doing a really good job and if this running game continues to play well then this team is a contender to win the league.
2. UNLV (LW: 2, 109 points)
Yeah… they lost a few first-place votes but the Rebels are getting the job done and did so this past week with two key wide receivers outs. That would have been unheard of in years past.
1. Air Force (LW: 1, 9 first-place votes, 123 points)
A win is a win, and the Falcons got a closer than expected 13-10 win over rival Navy. Red zone and holding onto the ball is a concern.
