While perhaps too much stock is often put into Las Vegas Summer League performances by up-and-coming NBA prospects, it is hard to have seen what second-year point guard Payton Pritchard was doing over the last week in Sin City with the summer Celtics and not get excited.
Playing his gritty, pesky brand of defense as per usual on one end of the court, and showing off his deep 3-point range and off-ball capabilities on the other, Pritchard looked like a man among boys at times while helping Boston stay undefeated in summer league play and in position to win the league while he was with the team.
Called away for a prior engagement the team is choosing to honor, Pritchard’s summer league is done even if the Celtics will play on without him.
Watch the video assembled by YouTuber Tomasz Kordylewski of the Oregon native’s best summer league moments from 2021 while we wait for Pritchard to take the floor again in preseason games.
