Joe De Croce isn’t letting a torn ACL and meniscus keep him away from getting stronger.

A Rutgers football commit, De Croce has been a regular at SHI Stadium for both of the Scarlet Knights home games this season and he will be at Saturday’s game against No. 11 Ohio State. He also has been a regular in the weight room and is seeing his strength improve.

De Croce posted this video on Thursday where he is bench pressing 315 pounds (with chains) for three reps. He got a very slight assist at the end of his final rep from his spotter.

It is impressive strength from the future Scarlet Knights offensive lineman, who committed to the program this past spring.

What’s up with the chains? Seasoned gym goers will know that adding chains to explosive workout motions such as a bench press or even a squat increases resistance the farther you get into a motion. De Croce is one of six members of the 2022 recruiting class being brought in along the offensive line.

The injury happened in August when the Northern Valley offensive lineman was hurt in a scrimmage with Delbarton. The injury shelved him for the entirety of his senior season. He had surgery in late August.
