ANAHEIM, Calif. — Around halftime of the Vrbo Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2020, it didn’t seem like Michigan football and Alabama, the defending national champion and team that would go on to win the ensuing year, were that far apart. The Crimson Tide had all kinds of talent, including Najee Harris, DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Jaylen Waddle, and Henry Ruggs. But eventually Alabama flexed, and Michigan walked away from Orlando with a loss.
Nick Saban isn’t proof positive that the Rose Bowl will follow a similar pattern.
That’s because he sees a much different team from Ann Arbor than what he went up against following the 2019 season. WolverinesWire’s Isaiah Hole asked Saban following the Disneyland parade what makes Michigan different than the last time he prepared for it and he shared a very thoughtful response.
