Saturday’s win over the Indiana Pacers was not one of Lonzo Ball’s best games but it was certainly one of his more unique games, particularly from a scoring standpoint.
Despite finishing with 15 points, Ball connected on just one three-pointer. Saturday’s game was just the fourth time in his career he’s scored at least 15 points while only hitting a single long-distance shot and the first time since November of 2018.
Coincidentally, in each of the other three occurrences, Ball finished with 15 points as well. And across the four games total, Ball has shot just one free throw. And in each of the four games, he’s hit seven field goals overall.
One difference in Saturday’s contest, though, was that Ball knocked down a big shot down the stretch, driving past Myles Turner for a layup at the rim to help seal the Pelicans victory. It’s a growing aspect of Ball’s games and, unlike the other nights in which he struggled from beyond the arc in his career, Ball still made an impact in the scoring department as he continues to develop his game.
