LaMelo Ball isn’t taking long to adjust to life in Charlotte, as shown by his Instagram page on Sunday. After making the media rounds, including his introductory press conference, on Saturday, Ball settled down and did what he typically does: hit the gym.
Ball’s Instagram post is both a shoutout to his family, including a picture with his grandmother on his father’s side and a video of him inside the Hornets’ practice facility. In what is becoming something of a signature move from Ball, he throws down an athletic dunk after going between his legs and throwing the ball of the glass.

It’s not entirely clear what the protocols are for players returning to their home markets to begin the 2020-21 season. Prior to the madness of free agency, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that players must return to their home markets by Nov. 30 and can then start individual workouts in early December. That report doesn’t specify anything about the timetable for incoming rookies, however.
Nonetheless, Ball hitting the gym is nothing new. His former head coach at Illawarra, Matt Flinn, spoke of him being a gym rat just prior to him being selected No. 3 by Charlotte in the 2020 NBA Draft.
