The Boston Celtics have needed more shooting on their roster for what seems like ages now, but what if we told you a potential answer to their shooting woes might already be on their roster — sometimes?
What we mean by this is that they have a knock-down shooter under contract right now who isn’t seeing playing time with the team, and that is because he is on assignment with the Maine Celtics (formerly Red Claws) most nights. That would be Virginia product Sam Hauser, who currently leads the G League in 3-point makes with 26 treys this season and is fourth in the developmental league for 3-point accuracy at 46.4%.
While he will certainly have a steep learning curve to get up to speed with learning the team’s schema on both ends of the court, if Hauser keeps lighting up the G League with his shooting from beyond the arc, Boston would be wise to try giving him more run on the team’s second unit.
