Vikings WR Justin Jefferson says he can play ‘wherever on the field’

Jefferson addressed the notion that he’s just a slot receiver over the weekend.

After the Vikings drafted Justin Jefferson with the 22nd pick in the draft, fans wondered how the fit would work considering Jefferson and Adam Thielen are both primarily slot receivers.

Jefferson addressed the notion that he’s just a slot receiver over the weekend.

“A lot of people say I’m only a slot receiver or a lot of those things but a lot of people don’t realize that I played my whole career out on the side,” Jefferson said via Fox 9. “I’m a diverse receiver who can go wherever on the field.”

I wouldn’t worry about this too much if I were a Vikings fan. Per Pro Football Focus, Thielen was in the slot for 28.6 percent of the snaps he played while he was outside 68.2 percent of the time.

Even if Jefferson isn’t comfortable playing outside right away, Thielen is a good enough receiver where he can play inside and outside.

At 6’1, 202 pounds, Jefferson has plenty of size to play outside as well.
