Former University of Tennessee baseball player Garrett Crochet is projected to be on the Chicago White Sox 26-man roster for the American League divisional series.

Crochet, a left-handed relief pitcher for Chicago, went 3-5 in 2021 as the White Sox won the American League Central crown with a 93-69 record.

He pitched 54.1 innings and surrendered 42 hits, 22 runs (17 earned) and 17 walks (two intentional). The former Vol hit one batter and recorded 65 strikeouts.

Crochet was drafted by the White Sox in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft, selected with the No. 11 overall pick.

He made his professional debut on Sept. 18, 2020 and was the first player in six years to make his MLB debut in the first year he was drafted.

Crochet is one of nine relievers projected for Chicago’s postseason roster.

He will likely be joined in the bullpen by Aarron Bummer, Liam Hendriks, Dallas Keuchel, Craig Kimbrell, Michael Kopech, Reynaldo Lopez, Jose Ruiz and Ryan Terpa.

The White Sox, the No. 3 seed in the American League playoffs, will open their postseason at Houston Thursday.

The Astros, the No. 2 seed, won the American League West with a record of 95-67.
