North Carolina capped off the college basketball regular season in a big way by taking down Duke to win the ACC regular season outright. That also earned UNC the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament and kept their hopes alive for a No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
It also saw them take a big jump in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll released on Monday.
UNC is up three spots from No. 7 to No. 4 in the latest rankings, the last of the regular season. It’s the highest ranking for UNC in the poll in a few weeks as they got as high as No. 3 this season.
The top three remained the same with Houston at No. 1, UConn at No. 2 and Purdue at No. 3. Tennessee fell one spot from No. 4 to No. 5 after losing to Kentucky.
As for the ACC, Duke was the only team ranked, falling three spots from No. 8 to No. 11 in the poll.
