Two UT baseball players receive preseason All-America honors

UT’s Max Ferguson and Connor Pavolony named to D1Baseball.com All-America teams.

A pair of University of Tennessee baseball players were named preseason All-America standouts by D1Baseball.com.

Vols’ second baseman Max Ferguson was named to the first team, while catcher Connor Pavolony was named to the second team.

Ferguson was also recently named a first-team preseason All-America standout by Rawlings/Perfect Game.

During the shortened 2020 season, Ferguson had nine stolen bases and batted .333. He scored 12 runs and clubbed a pair of homers as the Volunteers went 15-2 and were ranked No. 11 in the Baseball America Poll when COVID-19 forced the 2020 campaign to be prematurely canceled.

A junior at UT, Ferguson has been tabbed as a top Major League Baseball draft prospect by D1Baseball.com (No. 24) and Baseball America (No. 48).

Pavolony is also a top MLB draft prospect, rated No. 39 by D1baseball.com. Last season, Pavolony hit .342 and totaled four home runs and drove in 12 runs.

He was a member of the Round Rock Classic all-tournament team.
