The Chicago Bears were expected to be big players in the quarterback market this offseason, and that’s certainly proven to be true even ahead of free agency and the NFL draft.
With several quarterbacks on or rumored to be on the move this offseason, the Bears have been mentioned with all of them — Deshaun Watson, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr and now Carson Wentz.
The Philadelphia Eagles have been receiving aggressive offers from teams across the league for Wentz, and it sounds like it’s a matter ofΒ whenΒ Wentz finds a new home.
There have been rumors flying around the Internet that have linked Wentz to the Bears, which would make sense given John DeFilippo’s presence and Matt Nagy’s offense. Still, they’re simply rumors at this point.
Naturally, Twitter had plenty to say about speculation that Wentz could be traded to the Bears. And most of it, as you might assume, wasn’t pretty.
January 5th: Deshaun Watson to Bears rumors
January 28th: Jimmy G to Bears rumors
January 29th: Matthew Stafford to Bears rumors
February 2nd: Derek Carr to Bears rumors
February 5th: Carson Wentz to Bears rumorsI can't do this for another 7 weeks, guys.

If the Bears actually trade anything of significance for Carson Wentz, I might stay in Tampa, buy a house boat, and just let myself drift out to sea.

If you're a #Bears fan and you're actually AGAINST the idea of Carson Wentz as the QB fix in Chicago? I don't know what to say.
If Wentz ends up somewhere between his 2017 and 2020 versions, he'll be the best QB in franchise history.
Do the deal, Ryan.

Carson Wentz when he walks into the Bears locker room, and he sees Nick Foles. pic.twitter.com/u9ddZTmgE6

I do not believe the Wentz to Bears rumors so therefore I will not comment on them

If the Bears do indeed make a move for Carson Wentz. I won't hate on it but I also won't he throwing a ticker tape parade for it either. I'll turn my attention towards the draft.
My 2 question with a Wentz deal:
What is the cost?
Will Foles be headed back to Philly?
— Greg Braggs Jr. (@GBraggsJr23) February 5, 2021
I'll take Carson Wentz to the Bears but not at the expense of sending a first round pick.
That's just crazy.
— Dave (@runbackdave) February 5, 2021
I guess Foles and Wentz playing on the same team 3 years ago that won a Super Bowl who fired its head coach weeks ago counts in the collaboration department for the Bears https://t.co/egh2bmCyXq
— Leila Rahimi (@leilarahimi) February 5, 2021
If the #Bears do get Wentz for legitimate value (3rd round pick, 2022 2nd) Iβll be at peace with it. Anything higher and I think the bet is a bit too risky

Hot take. Bears are trading for Carson Wentz to unlock Nick Foles true potential. #beardown

I just watched three minutes of a Carson Wentz 2020 highlights tape and saw him connect on more deep shots than I can remember Trubisky hitting in four years. #Bears #DaBears
— Mike (@MikeTalksBears) February 5, 2021
I'm OK with the Wentz because if he can rediscover his mojo of 2017, Bears could stumble into something special
But here's the uncomfortable truth

I like the idea of Wentz on the Bears and Iβm definitely more in the group that suggests 2020 was a fluke season for him. Upside is big. Injury risk is also fairly big. Heβs an upgrade over what they have had though
— Nathan Erbach (@Nathan_Erbach) February 5, 2021
If the Bears get Wentz, and they give up their 1st this season… I'm seriously considering revoking my fandom until this regime is out.

Logs onto Twitter and sees Wentz to the Bears.
Logs back out again.

My 2 cents:
Carson Wentz isn't an upgrade from Mitchell Trubisky. He's the same quarterback who already got the fat extension. If you're frustrated with Mitchell, you're gonna hate Carson.Fix the system before you start identifying the next "savior"#Bears

Please keep Carson Wentz away from the Bears. Nothing about him is appealing: not his play, not his contract, not his personality. NOTHING. Hard pass for me β

Carson Wentz could cost the #Bears several Day 2 picks, and Derek Carr might cost as much as two Round 1 picks.
At that point, just offer everything but the kitchen sink for Deshaun Watson. He's way better than both. If you're giving up that much for a QB, go big or go home.
— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) February 5, 2021
IF the Carson Wentz sweepstakes is down to the Colts & Bears, you better believe the reaction will be vastly different depending on who he goes to.
Ballard will be βsmartβ if they land Wentz & Pace will be laughed at if the Bears do.
Itβs just the laws of the land.
— Aaron Leming (@AaronLemingNFL) February 5, 2021
I know we are all pointing and laughing at the Bears right now, but wait until Chicago starts Carson Wentz this season and then Nick Foles in the playoffs, and see who is laughing last.
