Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter has added more honors for his standout junior season. On Thursday, USA TODAY Sports announced its 2024 college football All-America team, and Hunter was recognized three times.
Hunter, a Heisman Trophy finalist, played in all 12 regular season games and dominated on both sides of the ball. Hunter caught 92 passes for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns at wide receiver. At cornerback, he picked off four passes, broke up 11 passes and forced a fumble that solidified the Buffs’ overtime win against Baylor. USA TODAY Sports took notice of his season as Hunter was named a first-team All-American at cornerback and as an all-purpose player while getting second-team honors as a wide receiver.
Hunter has dominated award week thus far, winning the Lott IMPACT Trophy (defensive player with character), the Paul Hornung Award (most versatile), the AP Player of the Year, the Walter Camp Award (college player of the year), the Bednarik Award (best defensive player) and the Biletnikoff Award (best receiver).
The biggest individual award will be announced on Saturday evening. Hunter is looking to become Colorado’s second Heisman Trophy winner, joining the late Rashaan Salaam.
