Titans’ Rashaan Evans voices support for Ryan Tannehill over Tom Brady

Rashaan Evans threw his support behind Ryan Tannehill returning to the Titans in 2020.

The Tennessee Titans came up just short of a Super Bowl LIV appearance last season after falling 35-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

And linebacker Rashaan Evans is ready to get on the field and do it all over again.

One big factor into what the Titans will look like on offense this year comes down to who they’ll have at quarterback.

Evans said “absolutely” when asked if he agreed with Derrick Henry, who made it clear he thinks that the team should keep Ryan Tannehill instead of signing Tom Brady while appearing on Bussin’ with the Boys.

“It’s like one of those situations in basketball, man,” Evans said on NFL Network. “The coach has got his main guy, he has a hot hand, why not give him the ball back again?”

“I feel like just in that situation Ryan Tannehill has done just an amazing job,” Evans explained. “He was a guy that came in, wasn’t automatically wanting us to respect him as soon as he got into the facility. He literally was one of those guys that was quiet, worked hard. When he got his opportunity he seized every moment of it. He gained a lot of respect, not only from me but from the whole locker room…”

The Titans were doubted as a whole at the beginning of the season, and even more after a slow start.

Tennessee found little issue turning its season around after replacing quarterback Marcus Mariota with Tannehill as the starter, going from a team that was expected to have a top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to one that was a dark horse candidate to win it all.

“We started out at 2-4, which seemed like we were at the bottom of the barrel,” Evans said. “Really as a whole, collectively, I feel like we had a mindset that we wanted to be different. Some of the speculation about us was that we couldn’t get as deep as some of these other great teams.

“I’m excited for next year to get back to it and (go) even further.”

What the 2020 Titans team will look like remains to be seen, as the team is still working out exactly what it’s going to do with Tannehill and Henry set to hit free agency soon.
