The Nuggets and Wizards trade means Ish Smith has broken a wild NBA record

Ish Smith has joined his 13th team (!!!) in his career.

The Nuggets and Wizards made a deal on Wednesday, sending Monte Morris and Will Barton to Washington, and Denver received Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith.

For Smith, that means he’ll be joining his 13th (!!!) franchise in his 12 years playing in the NBA. And on Wednesday, I learned that’s a record. There are other players who have joined 12 teams — Joe Smith, Jim Jackson, Tony Massenberg and Chucky Brown are apparently in that club.

So congratulations — I guess? — to Smith for having his name in the record books. But he’s had a solid NBA career as a backup point guard who occasionally starts.
