The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is the Switch’s next N64 game

Nintendo has officially confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be added to the Switch’s N64 library next month.

Nintendo has officially confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be the next N64 game coming to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack lineup.

One of the most beloved Zelda games from the series’ 36-year history, Majora’s Mask will be added to the Switch Online’s N64 library in February. Fellow Zelda classic Ocarina of Time is already playable via the service.

For those unacquainted with what is sometimes considered the best Zelda game of all time, Majora’s Mask is a much darker spin on Nintendo’s generally lighthearted fantasy series. It’s still got all the loud and lively enthusiasm of other Zelda games — you can kick cuccos and use your slingshot to pop a bunch of balloons carrying a fairy-man named Tingle — but there’s also an impending apocalypse to reckon with. Oddly enough, popping the balloons is a pretty effective means of furthering your efforts to prevent it.

Nintendo has also just added Banjo-Kazooie to the Switch’s N64 library, meaning all Expansion Pack holders should be able to embark on an adventure with everyone’s favourite bear-and-bird combo right now. This is the first game added to the service since Paper Mario joined the lineup in early December.

If you’re wondering how you can play Majora’s MaskPaper Mario, and a variety of other N64 titles on Switch, all you need to do is register for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription option. It’s a bit pricier than the standard online subscription, but it includes access to a growing library of N64 classics and the Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Happy Home Paradise DLC.

As well as Majora’s MaskPaper Mario, and Banjo-Kazooie, the Switch’s N64 library will reportedly also feature classic games like Pokémon SnapF-Zero XMario GolfKirby 64: The Crystal Shards, and more.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be available to all Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers in February. An exact release date has yet to be specified.
