Texas remains unranked, three Big 12 schools in latest AP poll

Even with Saturday’s big win against Rice, Texas remained outside the AP poll’s top 25. Only 22 votes were cast for the Longhorns.

Texas responded from its loss to Arkansas in a big way against Rice. Steve Sarkisian’s running game ran wild, getting the 58-0 win. The Southwest Conference record for the new head coach is now up to 1-1.

Even with the big win, Texas remained outside the AP Poll’s Top 25. Only 22 votes were cast for the Longhorns. Big 12 foes TCU and Oklahoma State received more points from the outside.

After struggling against Nebraska, Oklahoma fell down one spot to No. 4. They’re alongside Iowa State (No. 14) and Kansas State (No. 25) within the poll from the conference.

Clemson and Ohio State round out the top 10 at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively — not something college football is used to seeing. The two top-tier programs are behind the likes of Texas A&M and Cincinnati.
