Texas Football: Sam Ehlinger and Joshua Moore recognized for efforts

The Texas Longhorns duo of Sam Ehlinger and Joshua Moore recognized for their efforts against UTEP. Ehlinger found Moore seven times.

After the first snap of the Texas Longhorns and UTEP Miners game, we knew it was going to be a special night. On the very first snap of the game, Sam Ehlinger found Joshua Moore on slant that he took 78 yards to the endzone. A great start to the Sam Ehlinger-Mike Yurcich era as it was apparent that this offense was going to attack the defense through the air.

The combination of Ehlinger and Moore connected seven times for 127 yards and the lone touchdown. Moore finished with 92 yards after the catch in this game, most coming on one play. The two showed so much promise in this game and Moore could have had another score if Ehlinger didn’t opt to go with tight end Cade Brewer, who caught one of Sam’s five first half touchdown throws.

All in all Ehlinger completed 25 of 33 passes for 426 yards and five touchdowns. However, what he did without the benefit of play action was huge for the senior passer.

  • 19/23 passing
  • 309 yards
  • 4 touchdowns
  • 13.4 yard per attempt
  • perfect NFL quarterback rating 158.3

For his efforts, Ehlinger picked up his third player of the week honors, this time from the Earl Campbell-Tyler Rose Award.

Wide receiver Joshua Moore earned honorable mention from the Award committee.
