Texas football roster breakdown: X-Receiver

Brennan Eagles is expected to be the starter after contributing last season. Here is a breakdown of the X-receiver position for UT in 2020:

X-Receiver 2 – Marcus Washington

A true sophomore, Marcus Washington did not see much action last season. While he did play in 11 games, Washington only had three catches for a total of 33 yards. Going into this year, his role in the wide receiver rotation should grow.

Washington was a two way player in high school, playing as both a receiver and cornerback. He decided to focus on the offensive side of the ball thanks to his great hands and range. Washington’s catch radius is truly special, making him a reliable target.

It is always difficult to make an impact as a wide receiver as a freshman in college. With a year of learning under his belt, Washington is ready to start contributing to Mike Yurich’s high flying offense.
