Texas Football: Five areas of improvement on offense for Saturday

The Texas Longhorns have plenty of areas of improvement across the board. Longhorns Wire highlights five areas on the offensive side.

Run the football with someone other than Ehlinger

One of the staples of a Tom Herman offense involves having a balanced attack on the ground. Outside of the quarterback Sam Ehlinger, the run game hasn’t been what anyone expects. When the offense is struggling with throwing the football, the ground game needs to do their part to take the load off of the passer.

Currently the Longhorns have the fourth-most yards per game on the ground with 169 yards per game. Ehlinger accounts for 45.4% of that production. Currently Roschon Johnson is dealing with a shoulder injury which could impact his availability.

Keaontay Ingram has caught a case of the yips when it comes to holding onto the football. The team will need him to be refocused on protecting the football and help this team win football games. When the run game is going, this offense is that much more dangerous. At this point, the team needs to find out what they have in the top 2020 running back recruit in Bijan Robinson.
