Texas clinches consecutive Director’s Cup Championships

For the second straight season Texas stands above other institutions as the model of excellence.

For the second consecutive year, The University of Texas has won the Director’s Cup. The Director’s Cup is awarded to the Athletic Department that performs best across all sports.

On the strength of four national championships and five second place finishes, the Texas athletic department is distancing itself from its competition.

Texas Women’s Tennis, Texas Rowing, and Texas Men’s Golf managed three national championship finishes over the span of 11 days. A second place finish in Softball and Track & Field this week puts Texas over the top.

The second place finish capped an excellent season for Texas Track & Field and Cross Country.

The Longhorns are not done yet, but for the second straight season stand above other institutions as the model of excellence. Athletic Director Chris Del Conte, Texas coaches, and Texas athletes have certainly performed above expectation and produced a product in which they can take pride.

Texas baseball will take on East Carolina at 3 p.m. CT today on ESPN2.
