Texas at Kansas: Three things to know
- Texas bounced back from a 23-20 Thanksgiving week loss at home to then-No. 15 Iowa State with a 69-31 rout at Kansas State last week. QB Sam Ehlinger threw for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns, while RBs Bijan Robinson (172 rushing yards, 9 carries) and Roschon Johnson (139 rushing yards, 14 carries) scored 3 TDs apiece. The Longhorns finished with 334 rushing yards and 10.1 yards per carry. Prior to the KSU game, the sophomore Robinson had only 2 rushing TDs and Johnson, a freshman, had none.
- Despite finishing with just 214 total yards (102 passing, 112 rushing), Kansas played its closest game of the season in a 16-13 loss at Texas Tech last week. The Jayhawks, who trailed 10-0 after one quarter and 13-3 midway through the third, managed to tie the game at 13-all when RB Daniel Hishaw Jr. scored on a 12-yard run with 10:46 remaining. Tech answered with a 52-yard, 10-play drive to kick a go-ahead field goal at the 5:36 mark. Kansas had the ball two more times, but went 4-and-out on each possession. KU’s defense forced 4 turnovers, while the offense failed to turn the ball over.
- Texas leads the all-time series 16-2, including a wild 50-48 win last season in Austin. PK Cameron Dicker‘s 33-yard field goal as time expired saved the then-No. 15 Longhorns an embarrassing loss. The fourth quarter featured 50 combined points as the two teams exchanged 6 touchdowns, 2 field goals and a blocked extra point for a safety. Texas has won the last 3 in the series. This year’s contest was originally scheduled for Nov. 21 but was postponed after COVID-19 concerns within the Kansas program.

Texas at Kansas: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Texas 51, Kansas 20
Money line (ML)
PASS. Even if a line is posted before kickoff, it will be way too high of a price on Texas.
Against the spread (ATS)
TEXAS -29.5 (-110) is worth a play. Kansas, which is averaging just 15.8 points per game, has been having problems finding the end zone all season. There’s no reason to believe that will change in its final game of 2020.
Meanwhile, with fourth-year head coach Tom Herman (31-18 at Texas) on the hot seat, look for the Longhorns players to send a message that they want him back in 2021.
Over/Under (O/U)
The OVER 61.5 (-115) is the way to go. As long as the Jayhawks can score 14 or more points, the Over should hit as I expect the Longhorns to score at least 48 points with Ehlinger playing his final regular-season collegiate game. Plus, if this is the blowout I expect, Kansas should add some garbage-time points in the fourth quarter.
