Tennessee Titans named as best fit for Jadeveon Clowney by ESPN, NFL.com

Two more media outlets pegged the Titans as the best fit for Jadeveon Clowney.

As we continue to wait patiently on free agent pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney to make a decision, more and more outlets are pegging the Tennessee Titans are the best fit for him.

Of course, general manager Jon Robinson has made it clear the team is interested in him, so it’s no secret that Clowney to the Titans is a realistic possibility.

A few days back, we shared with you the opinion of CBS Sports’ Adam Schein, who believes Clowney and the Titans are a perfect match for one another.

“I still think the perfect spot for Jadeveon Clowney (is) unequivocally the Tennessee Titans,” he said. “Mike Vrabel coached him up in Houston, and I think that’s a move that would benefit the player, benefit the team… this would be amazing for Clowney, amazing for Tennessee.”

Now, ESPN’s Field Yates is jumping in the mix and believes the Titans are the best fit for Clowney at this late stage in free agency.

Yates: Titans. Sometimes when there is smoke, there’s fire. Tennessee has publicly acknowledged that it has communicated with Clowney, who would reunite with Mike Vrabel (from their Texans days) and provide a boost to their edge play.

Clowney not only played for Vrabel, who was the Texans’ linebackers coach from 2014 to 2016, and then the defensive coordinator in 2017, he also had his best season as a pro under Vrabel in 2017 with a career-high 9.5 sacks.

But Yates and Schein aren’t the only ones who believe Clowney and the Titans are a match, as NFL.com’s Cynthia Frelund named Tennessee as one of three teams who are the best fits for the South Carolina product.

Clowney would help take the Titans’ defense to a new level with his elite ability as both a pass-rusher and run defender. It would also be a sign that the Titans are all-in for the 2020 season.

At this point, it would be extremely disappointing if the Titans don’t land Clowney, who is easily the biggest fish left on the free-agent market. After all, it’s presumed that the trade of Jurrell Casey to dump salary was to make room for him.

At the end of the day, I think Clowney ends up in Nashville, but nothing is guaranteed in free agency, so continue to temper expectations.
