Analyzing the odds for the 2023 Wyndham Championship with PGA Tour picks and predictions for the top prop bets.

Players will try to make one last push for the FedExCup Playoffs at the 2023 Wyndham Championship this week, the final event before the playoffs begin. The 1st round will begin on Thursday morning from Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Below, we search for the best value prop bets among the 2023 Wyndham Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

The highest-ranked player in the field this week is Hideki Matsuyama, according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, which have him at No. 15. Adam Scott and Sungjae Im are both playing the Wyndham Championship and are ranked 19th and 20th, respectively. Last year’s champion, Tom Kim, is not playing this week due to an ankle injury suffered at the Open Championship.

Sedgefield Country Club is a par 70 and will play at 7,131 yards this week. It’s a Donald Ross design featuring small greens, and it’s hosted this event since 2008. The winning score has ranged from 14-under to 22-under since the move to Sedgefield.

Wyndham Championship – Top-5 picks

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 12:10 p.m. ET.

Sungjae Im (+400)

In his last 4 starts here, Im has finished 2nd, 24th, 9th and 6th, so he’s been in the top 5 or on the fringe 3 times. He’s due for a bounce back after missing the cut last week in surprising fashion, making this a good week to bet him. His odds would be even shorter had he played better at the 3M Open a week ago.

Si Woo Kim (+450)

Kim is another course horse, finishing 2nd, 3rd and 5th the last 3 times he’s played here; he withdrew last year. He missed the cut in his last 2 starts in July but this is a good place for him to get back on track.

Wyndham Championship – Top-10 picks

Cam Davis (+333)

Davis surged up the leaderboard on Sunday at the 3M Open with a final-round 65, giving him some momentum heading into a tournament where he’s finished 15th and 22nd the last 2 times he’s played here.

Byeong Hun An (+350)

An played well at the Scottish Open where he finished 3rd and he followed that up by coming in 23rd at the 3M Open last week. In his last 2 starts at the Wyndham Championship, he’s finished 35th and 3rd, showing a good track record at Sedgefield.

Denny McCarthy (+220)

McCarthy missed the cut here last year but in the 3 years prior to that, he finished 15th, 9th and 22nd. He also has 4 top-20 finishes in his last 5 starts coming into the week, including 3 top-10s.

Wyndham Championship – Top-20 picks

Webb Simpson (+320)

Simpson has not had the season he expected, missing the cut 8 times in 15 starts. However, he hasn’t finished outside the top 7 at this event in his last 5 starts, so he should be able to take advantage of a course he knows well in his home state.

Billy Horschel (+225)

Horschel needs to win in order to make the FedExCup Playoffs, but a top 20 would still be a positive way for him to cap off the 2023 regular season. His last 4 starts in this event were 27th, 2nd, 6th and 11th.

Wyndham Championship – Matchups

Suggested play is golfer in bold.

Cam Davis (+115) vs. Aaron Rai (-145)

Davis being an underdog to Rai is somewhat surprising, though both of them have played well in the last month or so. Davis just has a better track record at this course, finishing in the top 25 twice compared to Rai, who’s only played once in the last 5 years and finished 71st.

Wyndham Championship – Top Brit and Irish

Shane Lowry (+225)

Rai is +250 to be the top Brit and Irish player, making Lowry only a slim favorite. He finished 83rd here last year but in 2020, he notched a top 25 by coming in 23rd. He needs a strong finish this week to make the playoffs.

Wyndham Championship – First-round leader

Sungjae Im (+3500)

Im ranks 16th on tour in 1st-round scoring average this season and is playing a course where he’s 3 top-10s in the last 4 years. All it takes is for him to heat up on Thursday for this bet to cash.

More expert prop bet predictions

USA vs. Rest of the field: The field (+125)

This is a stronger international field than one for the Americans, even with Russell Henley, Poston, McCarthy and Justin Thomas among the favorites. I give Matsuyama, Im or Kim a better chance to win this week so getting this bet at +125 feels like a good value.
