Who are the experts predicting to win in Chargers vs. Jaguars?

Find out who national pundits are favoring in the matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Los Angeles Chargers are 2-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card Round. The over/under is 47.5 points, per Tipico Sportsbook.

That means oddsmakers are taking bets on whether the two teams will combine to score more than or fewer than 47.5 points.

My score prediction for the game is a 27-24 win for the Chargers, with a total of 51 points. So if I were putting money behind my prediction, I’d bet the over.

As for expert predictions, they are split, with the Jaguars slightly favored. Over at NFL Pick Watch, which compiles the list of expert picks, 51% are picking Jacksonville to win.

The showdown between the Chargers and Jaguars is arguably the most evenly matched.

Saturday’s game will begin at 5:15 p.m. PT and will be televised on NBC.

Los Angeles Rams vs Arizona Wild Card Game Preview

Why Arizona Will Win the NFC Wild Card

Get Kyler Murray going.

He wasn’t going to run as much this year, he was banged up and not himself over the second half of the season, and … it’s playoff time. Turn it loose.

James Conner is hobbling, there’s no DeAndre Hopkins – although there’s some hope that he could return if the Cardinals go on a playoff run – and the top targets are just okay. However, if Murray is making plays on the move, and if he’s taking off and pressing the Ram second-level, everything changes.

The defense is going to show up.

It was good against the run in the Week 14 loss to the Rams, and it didn’t break too often after bending a bit in the 37-20 Week 5 win. It’s going to allow a few big runs, but it’ll hold up in the red zone.

It’ll give up passing yards – it’s good for allowing more than 200 per game – but again, it’s more about bending but not breaking, even if there were massive issues all the way around in the loss to Seattle in Week 18.

The Cardinals lost to LA the second time around after being -2 in turnover margin. they won the first time around when they were +2, and they’ve been relatively careful with the ball against everyone else.

Over the last seven games they give up those two turnovers to the Rams and just two in the other six games. Los Angeles has turned it over eight times in the last three games.

But …

Kansas City vs Pittsburgh Wild Card Game Preview

Why Pittsburgh Will Win the AFC Wild Card

For all of the drama and all of the sweating over how it got into the NFL Playoffs, Pittsburgh is here, and it’s coming in on a bit of a nice run.

Yeah, it got rocked by Kansas City on the day after Christmas, but it pulled off a strong win over No. 1 seed Tennessee and beat Cleveland and Baltimore to set itself up for the opportunity.

The running game has started to work a wee bit better – it was solid in the loss to the Chiefs – and it should go off against a D that gives up close to five yards per pop.

Start early with Najee Harris, hope for an efficient day from Ben Roethlisberger – who’s going to let it fly in his final run – and then get the defense to force mistakes.

Pittsburgh can’t win in a firefight. The D has forced multiple takeaways in four of the last five games, and the one it didn’t – there weren’t any – was in the loss to the Chiefs.

That’s a massive issue because …

Dallas vs San Francisco Wild Card Game Preview

Why San Francisco Will Win the NFC Wild Card

Seriously, which Dallas team are we going to get?

Oh sure, it was all fun and happy when rolling at will against the Philadelphia second team in Week 18, but this team has a weird way of struggling at odd times.

When it mattered in Week 17, the Arizona defense was able to slow down the machine. The Giants were able to D up in Week 15, Kansas City shut things down to a dead stop in Week 11, and now it’s up to the San Francisco defense to do what it does on the ground.

It’s the NFL Playoffs – there’s pressure on everyone to win no matter what. There’s a bigger sense of urgency on the Dallas side.

This San Francisco team under Kyle Shanahan might have had to fight through a slew of things this season, but it’s been able to maintain a relatively even keel.

Yeah, it lost at Seattle in overtime, but it won seven of its last nine games – the other loss coming in a good battle at Tennessee – seven though five of those games were on the road.

Dallas might have the bigger name firepower, but Deebo Samuel is the best wide receiver on the field. Brandon Aiyuk is starting to step up his game, Jimmy Garoppolo has been quietly decent when he’s been able to go.

This team has the makeup, the D, and the mentality to get this done, but …

Philadelphia at Tampa Bay Game Preview

Why Philadelphia Will Win The NFL Wild Card

This isn’t your 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneer team.

It’s older, it’s missing parts, it’s hurt, and it’s not playing all that well. Oh sure, 12 is still slinging it around – the Buccaneers have the best passing game in the NFL – but oooooooooh, they beat Carolina twice and struggled to survive the Jets over the last three games.

That was coming off the 9-0 shutout loss to the Saints.

Blow off the Week 6 28-22 win over the Eagles – this is a different Tampa Bay team.

Philadelphia struggled to find its way in, but the running game is still terrific – it leads the NFL in yards – Jalen Hurts is a dangerous X factor – and for all the problems at times over the last few weeks defensively, the pass defense hasn’t been totally miserable.

However …

New England at Buffalo Game Preview

Why New England Will Win

Buffalo might talk tough, and the defensive stars might get surly when you suggest that they might not be happy about getting run over by the Patriots, but …

New England can get physical.

It’s unfortunate for the Bills that they’re getting New England and not, say, Las Vegas from a warm weather spot or a team that relies on a high-flying passing game like Cincinnati.

It’s going to be 10 degrees out. Maybe. Buffalo’s weather advantage is going to be lost on the Patriots.

Yes, the Bills got nasty and held the New England offense to under 300 yards in the 33-21 win just a few weeks ago, but Patriot ground game still ended up rumbling for 149 yards and wasn’t all that bad.

The formula is going to be simple. Get one of the NFL’s best running games going, rely on the league’s second-best defense to adjust and not let Josh Allen and the Buffalo passing game to go off with the midrange throws like it did in Week 16, and control the time of possession from the start.

As long as the Patriots don’t start turning the ball over – a big problem over the last month with seven in the three losses and none in the lone win – they should crank up the pressure on the Bills.

NFL Expert Picks, Wild Cards

Why Buffalo Will Win

It took a strange set of circumstances for the Patriots to pull off the first win over the Bills.

Crazy weather, lots of wind, rain, snow, and everything in between, the Patriots were able to grind their way to the 14-10 win. That was an anomaly.

It’s not quite a fake-it-till-you-make-it thing for the Patriots, but the style stalled late in the year with the offense not finding enough firepower, the defense struggling to stop the run, and the season coming to a stall.

Buffalo could beat the Patriots at their own game.

Start running, get the rolling Devin Singletary going right away, and don’t take any big chances.

Yeah, the Patriots will be great right out of the gate and on the first few drives, but the Bills should be able to mix up the attack, get the offensive line into a groove, and pound away on a defensive front that allowed close to 100 rushing yards or more in six of the last eight games.

NFL Wild Card Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Don’t expect fireworks, or the offensive pop of the last time these two met in the 33-21 Buffalo win.

The Patriot defense has started to struggle, and Mac Jones and the attack haven’t been able to quite find the same efficiency and magic, but it should all work to make this tight and tense.

The Bills will spread the ball around and the best defense in the NFL will do its part force a whole lot of third down plays. But they’re going sweat it out as drive after drive finishes with a field goal instead of a touchdown.

It’ll come down to one last drive for Jones and the Patriot offense that perks up in the fourth quarter, but they’ll come up just short.

Las Vegas at Cincinnati Game Preview

Why Las Vegas Will Win

Forget about the playing with house money aspect to getting into the NFL Playoffs – the Raiders earned this, and they have the same record as the flashier Bengals.

They might not be 100% healthy, and they’re going to need Josh Jacobs and the ground game to get going, but no team has gone through more tough games and more adversity – it’s ready.

Las Vegas didn’t knock out four straight teams – Cleveland, Denver, Indianapolis, LA Chargers – but it dealt a few big body blows. Pressure isn’t going to be an issue, especially on the road.

More specifically, the defense has stepped up in big situations. The run D has been terrific over the last month – Cincinnati hasn’t hit 100 yards on the ground in five of the last six games – the pass rush should be able to get to Joe Burrow enough to matter, and …

NFL Expert Picks, Wild Cards

Why Cincinnati Will Win

The Bengals basically got a week off, and the Raiders had to go deep into Sunday night for their emotional win over the Chargers. This is hardly a 100% healthy Cincinnati team, but it’s in much better shape than the Raiders.

Can the passing attack keep the firepower going? Yeah, the Las Vegas defense has been fine over the last month of the season, but it doesn’t come up with interceptions, the two takeaways against the Chargers were an anomaly, and even if the Bengals struggle …

It happened in Week 11. The Bengals had problems until rolling late – it wasn’t as ugly as the 32-13 final score – but that also showed off the firepower.

The Raiders can move quickly – Carr is great at efficiently moving the chains – but blink, and the Bengals can end it.

That’s why …

NFL Wild Card Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Really? The 1990 season – technically it was early January 1991 – was the last time Cincinnati won a playoff game?

No pressure or anything, but this is supposed to be the beginning of something special, and Las Vegas is supposed to be happy to be playing at all.

The Raiders have a way of just hanging around.

Will Cincinnati start to panic if the big plays aren’t there early? Will they abandon the run if Joe Mixon isn’t going off right away?

Las Vegas will overcome the early energy surge and Bengal adrenaline, settle in, and have the lead early in the fourth quarter, and then …

Boom, boom.

Burrow finds Tee Higgins for one, Tyler Boyd for another, and the Bengals survive and move on after Carr leads the way to a late scoring drive. This will end on an onside kick.
