I would lean to the “no,” but with Chelsea having given up 4 to Arsenal in Wednesday’s match, I can’t trust it enough to keep West Ham off the board.

Yet, Chelsea still has allowed just the 3rd-fewest goals in the EPL. For that reason, I’d prefer to just play the total.

I do like BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (-122). West Ham’s 46 goals rank fourth in the EPL. It has scored in all but one game this calendar year.

West Ham scored 3 on Liverpool in the two teams’ last battle and also scored in its last matches with Man City and Chelsea, the EPL’s top-two defenses in opponents’ goals.

Liverpool has also scored in every EPL game this calendar year. Its offense has a high probability of beating a mid-tier West Ham defense at least once.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the OVER 3.5 (+120).

While “both teams to score (-122)” is my favorite bet in this game, betting on offense is going to be a strong play as well. West Ham defeated Liverpool 3-2 in November 2021, scoring every shot on goal it had.

While I don’t expect that to repeat itself, Liverpool’s 16 shots certainly could. Liverpool is averaging 2.7 goals this season, and has had Over 2.5 goals scored in 9 of its last 11 home matches.

While it’s risky to say the least, going into Old Trafford and coming out on top is not for the faint of heart. West Ham has proven itself this season but perhaps not quite enough to back a victory. It’s also coming off an ugly 3-2 midweek loss against Leeds United.

Forward Cristiano Ronaldo is doubtful but Manchester will have most of its top players in terms of minutes available. United has also been far better at home where it has picked up 16 points in 10 games.

With two explosive offenses that have both been thriving as of late and two lacking defenses, I expect many opportunities, but these teams are too similar to side one way or another.

The value that DRAW (+270) has here is reasonable enough to give it a sprinkle.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the OVER 3.5 (+150).

The West Ham attack has been the backbone of their success this season.

They have five players that top .5 goals and assists per 90 minutes. I expect F Michail Antonio and his team-leading 8 goals to break down weak defensive play from United.

Similarly, Man U has six players that average at least .5 goals and assists per 90 minutes. The talent is there, just the defense isn’t. Both teams have allowed 30 goals in under 23 games, so the flawed defending is certainly in this match.

I expect many opportunities and a good amount of goals given that both teams have recently topped this in their most recent performance and West Ham has hit this number in four of its last five outings.

Chelsea will have James and Jorginho back in action at full strength. Christian Pulisic should get a substitute in the game as well. Romelu Lukaku is one of the best 9s in the world as well.

Couple their talent and attacking prowess with their league-best defense, and it’s easy to see why the Blues are favored. Chelsea has given up just 6 goals on the season, scoring 33. West Ham has scored 25 and given up 17.

Chelsea is just a level above most EPL teams. The Blues are that good, and I’d back them at -125.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on UNDER 2.5 (-110) as Chelsea is that good defensively. The Blues have given up 6 goals in 14 games. They’ve given up 3 goals in four games against teams that have scored more than 20 goals this season.

Chelsea’s defense will almost certainly not give up 2 goals in this one, and its offense hasn’t been elite recently either. The Blues have scored more than 1 goal in two of their last four games.

The Under is the better play considering the form of the stronger team.

PASS on the money line with a slight lean to a draw at +490. The reason behind the draw is simple — Man City is just missing too many key pieces.

Kevin de Bruyne, arguably the best midfielder in the world, is out. Jack Grealish, their expensive midfield transfer, is out. Phil Foden is doubtful. Ferran Torres is out. That’s just too many important names not playing.

That said, they have a deep and talented roster, with star M İlkay Gündoğan taking charge. With that in mind, I’d be hesitant to take the favorite’s money line.

In these type of instances, I like looking to BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE, but with Man City having the best defensive in the EPL, I wouldn’t suggest going there either.

The total should give some decent value plays though.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the ALTERNATE LINE UNDER 2.5 (+145) as City’s defense should be able to slow West Ham’s offense, and the missing players should make a strong impact for City’s attack.

Grealish and de Bruyne are more offensive-minded midfielders, and without them, City’s attack may struggle to get good opportunities.

With that in mind, these two played in the EFL Cup earlier in the season and the result was a 0-0 full-time draw with West Ham taking the match in penalties. That type of showing is what I again expect on Sunday.

Leicester City and West Ham finished fifth and sixth, respectively, last season with Leicester edging West Ham by just 1 point.

The two sides are just about even, so the slight edge goes to the home club. Despite being pricey, BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (-170) is also a solid value.
