Former Notre Dame football All-American’s son flips to SEC team

Can get all the legacies

While Notre Dame football has had great success with legacy recruits, it doesn’t always reel them back to South Bend.

That was the case with [autotag]Marshall Pritchett[/autotag], a 6-foot, 5-inch, 211-pound tight end from Georgia. He is the son of [autotag]Wesley Pritchett[/autotag], a former Notre Dame linebacker who helped the Irish win the 1988 national championship. The younger Pritchett initially committed to North Carolina.

That changed on Tuesday morning. The nation’s 404th overall prospect, according to the 247Sports composite, flipped his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Wesley was clearly proud of his son. He mentioned that hard work has helped him achieve his goals of playing collegiate football. It’s a bit odd that Notre Dame never offered Marshall. He is clearly good enough to play a high level of football. At the moment, the Irish don’t have a commitment at the position, so it probably would have made sense to at least reach out.

Marshall Pritchett, left, Class of 2025 receiver/tight end from Rabun Gap, talks near Clemson offensive coordinator Garrett Riley, right, during the first of the 2023 Dabo Swinney High School Camps at the practice facilities at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. Wednesday, May 31, 2023. There are camps for High School ( 8th-12th graders), and Youth camps. The camps provide campers with football fundamentals for various skill positions, with no-contact, no pads, or helmets.
