Report: Sixers are looking to move out of Wells Fargo Center

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to move out of the Wells Fargo Center and into their own NBA arena.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in the midst of an offseason that could change the trajectory of their current path to an NBA title. However, there is one other matter they are trying to attend to at the moment.

The Sixers currently play at the Wells Fargo Center and they share the arena with the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. The arena is more built for hockey than basketball and the Sixers are now trying to find their own arena for basketball.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers are looking at Penn’s Landing:

The Philadelphia 76ers are exploring the possibility of building a new basketball arena at Penn’s Landing, and the team is lobbying local officials behind a plan to help finance construction with taxpayer support, The Inquirer has learned.

The proposal is sure to spark intense debate, the latest in a long history of disputes over how to revitalize the Delaware River waterfront and where to put sports complexes in Philadelphia. The team wants to move out of the Wells Fargo Center, which it shares with the Flyers and is owned by Comcast Spectacor, by the 2031 season, according to a planning document viewed by The Inquirer. The document is a draft of talking points assembled to help the Sixers’ lobbying efforts.

The Sixers had a lot of success at the Wells Fargo Center this season going 29-2 on the hardwood inside that arena. The fact that they were not able to play at home in the playoffs hurt them as they were swept in Round 1 by the Boston Celtics. [lawrence-related id=37225,37221,37214]

Bulls at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 7:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 118, Bulls 101

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ers (-834) are overwhelming favorites, and you’ll need to risk eight times your investment. That’s not good betting, and the Bulls (+550) are too banged up and cannot be trusted. AVOID.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The 76ERS (-11.5, -106) are awaiting Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks, acquired at the deadline. Even if they’re not ready Sunday the Sixers should have enough against a Bulls team which is ravaged by injury. The Bulls are 0-4 ATS in their past four trips to Philly, and 1-4 ATS in the previous five meetings overall in this series. Chicago is also 0-5 ATS in their past five, and 1-8-1 ATS in the past 10 against winning sides.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 213.5 (-110) is the play, although it’s hard to imagine where the offense is going to come from on the Bulls. Still, the 76ers should have their way offensively and they’ll likely encounter very little resistance.

Nets at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 111, Nets 100

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ers (-295) are heavily favored even with Embiid on the shelf, and you can’t risk nearly three times the return on them. The Nets (+230) are coming in on the second end of a back-to-back after getting knocked off at home last night by the Jazz, 118-107. PASS.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

I don’t love the 76ERS (-7.5, -106) here, as they have really struggled without Embiid. In fact, they’re coming off a 101-95 loss in Indiana Monday, and they have won just four of their 10 games without ‘The Process’ this season.

However, the Nets (+7.5, -115) are on the second end of a back-to-back, and they didn’t cover at home vs. Utah. The Nets are 2-8 ATS in the past 10 games overall, 1-5 ATS in the past six as an underdog, and 0-6 ATS in the past six as a road dog. The Sixers are also 4-1 ATS in the previous five meetings. Those facts make Philly attractive, even without Embiid.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 222.5 (-121) is the way to go in this one, especially with a big chunk of Philly’s offense on the shelf, and the Nets entering with tired legs. The Under is 5-0 in Brooklyn’s past five playing with no rest, while the Under is 5-1 in Philly’s past six overall.

Bucks at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 12:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Bucks 119, 76ers 112

Moneyline (ML)

The BUCKS (-154) have experienced defeat just four times this season, home to the Miami Heat (Oct. 26), at the Boston Celtics (Oct. 30), at the Utah Jazz (Nov. 8) and home to the Dallas Mavericks (Dec. 16). In other words, not very frequently. This will be the first of four meetings between these Eastern Conference combatants, and I am just not feeling the 76ers (+125) even at plus-money on their own floor.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Bucks to win outright returns a profit of $6.49.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The BUCKS (-3.5, +100) are a bit better of a bargain against the spread rather than on the moneyline, costing you much less juice. Budding superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo lit up the 76ers (+3.5, -121) like a Christmas tree last season, averaging 43.0 points, 15.7 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 3.0 blocked shots and 1.3 steals per game in three meetings. That’s just ridiculous production.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 221.5 (+105) shouldn’t be an issue for this mid-afternoon affair. The Over is 5-0 in Milwaukee’s past five against winning sides, and 24-11 in the past 35 when working on two or more days of rest. The Over is also 5-0 in the past five meetings, and 5-2 in the past seven in Philly. The Over has connected in each of the past four for the Sixers, too, while going 4-0 in their past four at home and 5-0 in the past five against winning sides.

New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The New York Rangers (17-14-4) and Philadelphia Flyers (20-11-5) convene at Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. ET Monday before heading out for the holiday break. We analyze the Rangers-Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Rangers at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Alexandar Georgiev vs. Carter Hart

Georgiev has posted a 9-7-1 record, 2.93 goals-against average and .915 save percentage with two shutouts. He is likely to get the start after Henrik Lundqvist started (and won) on Sunday afternoon against the Anaheim Ducks. King Henrik has started back-to-back before, and with the holiday break coming up, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him tabbed for this one since he saw such a low workload Sunday.

Hart is 12-7-3 with a 2.33 GAA and .912 save percentage with a shutout, and he has back-to-back wins vs. Anaheim and the Buffalo Sabres, turning aside all but two of the 60 shots he faced.

Rangers at Flyers: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 3 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Flyers 4, Rangers 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Flyers (-200) are not worth a play, as risking two times the return is just not good business. If you’ve frequented my columns, you know the neighborhood of -160 to -170 is my cut-off, unless it’s included in a multi-team parlay.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered for the Flyers to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $5 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The FLYERS (-1.5, +135) are a much better roll of the dice on the puck line at home. The Rangers (+1.5, -167) have won six straight inside the division, but they’re 1-4 in the past five overall, and they’re 7-16 in the past 23 when working on no rest. The Flyers have won nine of the past 13 overall, and six of the past seven at home. Philly is also 6-1 in the past seven meetings, and the favorite has hit in seven of the past nine meetings.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is the trend in this series, hitting in five straight meetings. However, buck the trend and play the OVER 5.5 (-139). Here’s why: The Rangers are playing the second end of a back-to-back, and the Over is 12-4 in their past 16 on no rest. The Over is also 5-0 in their past five overall, while going 4-0 in the past four as an underdog. The Flyers have hit six straight Overs against Eastern Conference foes.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at noon ET.

Prediction

76ers 126, Wizards 109

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ers (-1000) are heavy favorites, and there is no way you can possibly risk more 10 times your money for such a small return. The Wizards are +625.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the 76ers to win outright returns a profit of just $1

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The 76ERS (-12.5, -115) are 0-3-2 ATS in the past five as a favorite, 0-2-2 ATS in the past four at home and 0-3-1 ATS in the past four overall. So why bet them? Well, the Wizards (+12.5, -100) are just 1-6 ATS in the past seven trips to the City of Brotherly Love.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 230.5 (-106) is where it’s at. The Over is 5-1 in the past six meetings in Philly, while also going 9-4-1 in Washington’s past 14 on the road and 4-0 in their past four as an underdog. The Over is 4-1-1 in Philly’s past six at home, and 4-1 in their past five overall.

Anaheim Ducks at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Anaheim Ducks at Philadelphia Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Anaheim Ducks (14-15-4) tangle with the Philadelphia Flyers (17-11-5) at Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday. We analyze the Ducks-Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Ducks at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

John Gibson vs. Carter Hart

Gibson heads into this one with a 10-13-2 record, 2.79 goals against average and .910 save percentage. He is coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the New York Rangers Saturday.

Hart carries a 10-7-3 record, 2.47 GAA and .906 SV% into play, but he is on a personal two-start skid. He allowed three goals on 30 shots in each of his past two outings in Colorado and Minnesota, but the Flyers managed just one goal in each of the outings to give him an undeserved L.

Ducks at Flyers: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Flyers 4, Ducks 2

Moneyline (ML)

The FLYERS (-143) are heavily favored despite the fact the Ducks have dominated this series lately. The Ducks are 12-4 in the past 16 meetings in this series, and 7-1 in the past eight trips to the City of Brotherly Love. However, Anaheim has won just five of its past 18 games overall this season, and the Ducks are 1-5 in the past six on the road. Philly has won four of the past five overall, and is 7-2 in the past nine as a home favorite.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered for the Flyers to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $7 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

PASS. While I think the Flyers end their dismal showing in this series against the Ducks, I’m not confident enough to lay two goals. My lean is certainly to the home side (-1.5, +185), but confidence isn’t high enough to risk it on the puck line.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-121) is 7-2-2 in the past 11 meetings in this series, and 3-0-2 in the past five meetings in Pennsylvania.

Toronto Raptors at Philadelphia 76ers odds, lines, picks and best bets

Analyzing Sunday’s Toronto Raptors at Philadelphia 76ers matchup, with NBA betting odds, lines, picks and best bets

The Toronto Raptors (15-6) and Philadelphia 76ers (16-7) mix it up at Wells Fargo Center at 6:00 p.m. ET Sunday. We analyze the Raptors-76ers odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Place a legal sports bet on this NBA action or other games at BetMGM.

Raptors at 76ers: Key injuries

Raptors: SG Patrick McCaw (knee) and SF Stanley Johnson (groin) are each out until mid-December.

76ers: C Joel Embiid (hip) is expected to be ready, while SG Matisse Thybulle (ankle) is more questionable. SG Josh Richardson (hamstring) has been ruled out again.

Raptors at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 7:15 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 106, Raptors 101

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ERS (-150) should get a much bigger test than they did Saturday in their 141-94 victory against the Cavaliers. The Raptors (+125) haven’t lost three games in a row in over one calendar year, but they’ll be up against it in Philadelphia against with an unblemished (11-0) home record.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Philadelphia win profits $0.67 if the 76ers prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $6.70, $20 to win $13.40, $5.99 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the 76ERS (-2.5, –115), even though they’re just 8-17 ATS in the past 25 against the Raptors (+2.5, -106). Go lightly on the 76ers, as even though they’re just 2-5 ATS in the past seven in the second end of a back-to-back, they’ll have fresh legs with Embiid back in action after a rest Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. For the second straight day I just don’t care for the total in a Philly game. There is too much uncertainty with Embiid back, and the fact the rest of the team is playing in the second of a back-to-back. The under is 7-2 in the past nine meetings in this series, so if anything, there is a slight lean in that direction.

Cavaliers at 76ers: Key injuries

Cavaliers: PF Kevin Love (illness) is questionable, while SG Dylan Windler (shin) is out until mid-December.

Cavaliers at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 12:45 p.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 113, Cavaliers 93

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ers (-833) are overwhelming favorites, and there is no way to justify risking eight times your money for a small return. The Cavaliers (+550) are giant underdogs because they’re not a good team, and they might be without their best player, Love, who is under the weather.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Philadelphia win profits $0.12 if the 76ers prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $1.20, $20 to win $2.40, $83.33 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the 76ERS (-11.5, –115), even though they’ll be a little bit short-handed without Embiid. They’ll still be in good shape against the struggling Cavs.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. The Under has cashed in 19 of the past 27 meetings in this series, and 10 of the past 14 battles in Philadelphia. With Embiid out, and Love possibly joining him, the defense actually could be lacking. There is just too much uncertainty to wade into the total pool here.
