How good was Tyrice Knight vs the 49ers? Brian Baldinger breaks down his play

How good was Tyrice Knight vs the 49ers? Brian Baldinger breaks down his play

The Seattle Seahawks underwent massive midseason overall at their linebacker position. They began the year with Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker starting. Now, neither men are still on the team. Replacing them are Ernest Jones IV, and rookie Tyrice Knight out of UTEP.

Jones and Knight have been a revelation, presenting clear upgrades. Against the 49ers, the two combined for 23 total tackles, which easily led the team. But we should look at Knight’s performance in particular, which is what film guru Brian Baldinger did in one of his beloved “Baldy’s Breakdowns.”

It would appear the Seahawks have found something special with their fourth round pick from last spring.

Knight had 10 of those 23 total tackles between him and Jones.

The Seahawks will have another critical test this weekend against Kyler Murray and the explosive Arizona Cardinals offense. Seattle’s defense seems to have turned a corner, but it is just two games. If they can find a way to slow down Arizona, this unit might just truly be on its way to being fixed.

Seahawks Week 12 injury report: 9 players did not participate Wednesday

Seahawks Week 12 injury report: 9 players did not participate

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their third-straight game against an NFC West opponent: the Arizona Cardinals. It is the first meeting between these two teams this year, and the first since Week 18 to conclude the 2023 season. Arizona is currently in first place at 6-4 on the year, with the Seahawks looking to potentially reclaim the top spot.

Wednesday’s practice featured an incredibly lengthy injury report, particularly for the “did not participate” portion. However, among the nine players who were not at practice, four were veterans having scheduled rest days.

The good news is right tackle Abe Lucas remains a full participant, after returning to action for the first time this season last week. Seattle’s struggling offensive line felt the impact of having him in a big way, as he provided a clear upgrade at the position.

The full injury report from Wednesday’s practice can be seen below.

  • TE Noah Fant – Groin
  • TE Brady Russell – Foot
  • WR Laviska Shenault Jr. – Back
  • CB Dee Williams – Ankle

  • WR Tyler Lockett – NIR/Rest
  • G LAken Tomlinson – NIR/Rest

Gimme Him: One player the Chiefs would steal from the Panthers

Which Carolina #Panthers player would we pick to add to the Kansas City #Chiefs’ roster for the rest of the regular season?

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Week 11 action on November 24.

This matchup is expected to result in an easy win for the 9-1 Chiefs, who are looking to bounce back after their first regular season loss. The 3-7 Panthers have struggled all season and would need to mount a heroic effort to hand Kansas City its second defeat.

On Chiefs Wire, we are conducting a thought experiment. We’ll call this game of hypotheticals ‘Gimme Him.’

Let’s imagine that the Chiefs could make a trade for any one of Carolina’s most valuable players for nothing in return.

Which Panther would make the most impact for Kansas City through the rest of the season?

Carolina’s offense focuses heavily on the ground game, which has given running back Chuba Hubbard an opportunity to make a name for himself as one of the NFL’s most reliable rushers. Hubbard has carried the ball 161 times this season for 818 yards.

While Kansas City already has stellar running backs and the Chiefs are often more inclined to let Patrick Mahomes throw the ball than rely on their run game, having a breakout rusher like Hubbard could be a great asset for Andy Reid’s offense.

When Kansas City visits Carolina this weekend the defense must keep Hubbard’s yardage limited.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides a positive update on Isiah Pacheco ahead of Week 12

Kansas City #Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provides a positive update on Isiah Pacheco ahead of Week 12 | @EdEastonJr

The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh from their first loss of the season but got some positive news regarding an injured starter. Head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters on Wednesday to discuss the status of starting running back Isiah Pacheco as he continues to work his way back from injury.

“We’ll see on both those two (Charles Omenihu),” said Reid. “Kind of go through the practice (and) see where we’re at this week and go from there. We’ll just have to say, a day-by-day-type thing.”

Reid also mentioned rehabbing Charles Omenihu’s progress toward a potential return, but Pacheco’s potential this weekend seems promising. During his press conference, the Chiefs head coach praised Pacheco’s work ethic and desire to return.

“He’s a spark plug, emotionally; he’s something that way, and he’s worked his tail off to get to the point he’s at now. We’ve got to keep an eye on him that way,” said Reid. “He would’ve played three weeks ago if he had his choice, but that’s sometimes how it goes. I appreciate that, though, that mentality. That’s what’s helped him get to this point.”

Pacheco was off to a productive start this season before going down with a fractured fibula in the team’s Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. A backfield alongside Kareem Hunt appears to be a matter of time as the Rutgers standout’s health is on the uptick.

Raiders have 2 ex-Broncos set to face their old team on Sunday

Former Broncos players Jacob Bobenmoyer and Tyreik McAllister now play for the Raiders, who will host Denver this week.

The Las Vegas Raiders are set to host the Denver Broncos in Week 12 and two former Denver players could face off against their old team.

The Raiders have two ex-Broncos who contribute on special teams: long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer and returner Tyreik McAllister.

Bobenmoyer, 27, handled long snapping duties in Denver from 2019-2022 before being replaced by Mitchell Fraboni. Bobenmoyer signed with Las Vegas last year and he’s been the Raiders’ long snapper since then.

McAllister, 26, signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent running back out of Charleston in 2022. He spent most of that season either on reserve or the practice squad before re-signing in 2023. McAllister was cut before training camp last summer and then spent a season playing in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

McAllister signed with Las Vegas in January. He played in three games this season before being bumped down to the practice squad. The Raiders list him as a wide receiver and kickoff and punt returner.

Sunday’s game will be regionally televised on CBS (TV map). Despite playing on the road, the Broncos are considered favorites this week.

Why Justin Fields is the Steelers’ X-factor heading into Week 12’s TNF

The Justin Fields package helped secure a Week 11 win for the Steelers and could play a major role against Cleveland’s defense in Week 12.

While it can be argued that too much blame is being placed on Russell Wilson’s shoulders for the Steelers’ Week 11 offensive struggles, one key takeaway from Pittsburgh’s offense remains: the ‘Justin Fields package‘ was immaculate.

The Fields rushing package has been teased since the Steelers traded for the former Bears QB, and it finally came to fruition in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers brought Fields in for a QB power play and two QB-RB options that helped seal the Week 11 victory for Pittsburgh. In Week 12, facing a relentless Cleveland pass rush led by 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, the Steelers may be forced to rely on the Fields package as the focal point of the rushing attack.

Fields isn’t just a running QB; he can also sling it deep if the game script calls for it, and this versatility could prove to be Cleveland’s downfall in the upcoming Thursday Night Football game.

Will Steelers OC Arthur Smith utilize both Wilson’s and Fields’ greatest strengths in unison? Between Wilson’s ‘moon ball’ and Fields’ speed, not many defenses in the league can prepare for this offensive tandem.

Will JuJu Smith-Schuster play this week? Injury updates for Chiefs WR

#Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is dealing with a hamstring injury. Here are the latest updates.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster caught one pass for eight yards in the defending Super Bowl champions’ Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Smith-Schuster was listed on Kansas City’s initial injury report for Week 12 with a hamstring injury.

Will the veteran pass-catcher be available for the Chiefs when they face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, November 24?

JuJu Smith-Schuster injury update

Smith-Schuster was a full participant in Kansas City’s Wednesday practice session while he recovers from a hamstring injury that sidelined him earlier this season.

How long will Smith-Schuster be out?

Barring an unforeseen setback in practice this week, Smith-Schuster should be expected to play for the Chiefs against the Panthers.

Chiefs WR depth chart

Should Smith-Schuster be forced to miss Kansas City’s matchup with Carolina, the Chiefs will have to rely on DeAndre Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson to give Patrick Mahomes options in the passing game.
