Ring in the New Year: LIV Golf’s Cameron Smith marries girlfriend Shanel Naoum

Smith and Naoum have been pictured together dating to his 2022 Players Championship victory.

Cameron Smith took the phrase “ring in the New Year” quite literally.

The 30-year-old Smith married his girlfriend, Shanel Naoum, on Dec. 30, 2023, in Brisbane, Australia, at the Cathedral of St. Stephen. Pictures began to leak online over the holiday weekend that featured Smith and his signature mullet, of course.

Naoum is a chiropractor in Florida where the two live and has been spotted with Smith at tournaments dating to his 2022 Players Championship victory at TPC Sawgrass near their home in Jacksonville.

Smith had a breakout season in 2022 that featured a trio of wins at the Sentry, Players Championship and Open Championship – his first major victory – before he took his talents to LIV Golf for the end of the 2022 season. Over 19 starts on the Saudi-backed circuit, Smith has three wins and eight top-five finishes.

Lydia Ko put a bow on a spectacular 2022 season with star-studded wedding in South Korea

Former World No. 1s Yani Tseng, Jiyai Shin and Ariya Jutanugarn were among those who attended the wedding.

Lydia Ko capped off a dreamy 2022 by marrying her sweetheart on Dec. 30 at the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul, South Korea. The current World No. 1 shared several images from the ceremony on Instagram, as did a number of top players who attended the wedding.

Ko confirmed her engagement to Jun Chung, son of Ted Chung, vice chairman and CEO, Hyundai Card, Hyundai Commercial, over the summer. Jun Chung works in finance for Hyundai and has a home in San Francisco.

He watched Ko win in person for the first time at the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, where the Kiwi clinched the Rolex LPGA Player of the Year Award, Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average, the money title and her third LPGA victory of the season. She’s now only two points shy of the 27 needed to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame.

“I think he motivates and inspires me to become a better person and a better player.” said Ko after the CME win.

Former No. 1s Yani Tseng, Inbee Park, Jiyai Shin and Ariya Jutanugarn were among those who attended the wedding in South Korea.

The LPGA season kicks off Jan. 19 with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, where Ko has a home.

Here are a few Instagram social snaps from Ko’s special day:

Photos: Brooks Koepka, Jena Sims got hitched and it was an epic wedding

Let’s just say that the Koepkas know how to throw a party.

“Turks & Koepkas” was the name of the week long wedding celebration held in Turks and Caicos for Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims this past week. Jena did a great job of reposting and documenting all the festivities and it looked like everyone who attended had a blast.

From custom Nikes, slippers and hats to extravagant dresses, a performance by Ludacris and stellar photos, the Koepka’s know how to throw a party. The newly weds looked stunning and partied all night long while entertaining their guests with great food, music and drinks.

Golfweek has rounded up photos from Instagram to help showcase the epic festivities that went down on the island.

Saints fan gets married at 2022 NFL draft in Las Vegas

How’d you spend our Saturday? Because Saints fan Briana McAllister lived it up getting married at the NFL draft in Las Vegas, via @RossJacksonNOLA:

There are a lot of ways to spend a Saturday at the end of April, but this might take the cake. The wedding cake. Saints fan Briana McAllister and her now husband Toby Koster not only had the chance to attend the 2022 NFL draft, but also get married in the meanwhile! This comes one year after the two were engaged during the 2021 draft in Cleveland.

So from engagement to nuptials, the NFL draft got to hold site for both of these magical moments for McAllister and Koster. While most Saints fans were cheering over the team’s first-round selections of Chris Olave and Trevor Penning, these two celebrated being each others’ first-round selections in style.

Next year, the draft will be in Kansas City, where the two were engaged and near Koster’s hometown. Will be fun to see if they get the opportunity to celebrate their first anniversary together with another draft appearance. Congratulations to the happily married couple.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Matthews getting married this weekend

It’s wedding weekend for #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and fiancée Brittany Matthews!

Wedding day is almost here for lovebirds Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews.

The two started dating back when they were high school students in Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. Mahomes popped the question back in September of 2020, surprising Matthews with an engagement in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium on the same date he received his Super Bowl LIV ring. This time last year, Matthews shared with the world that they’d picked out a location and set the date for the wedding. Now, guests are arriving and flocking to Wailea, Hawaii on Maui to see the two tie the knot sometime this weekend.

Patrick’s brother, Jackson Mahomes, announced earlier this week that he would be the best man for the wedding.

Kansas City Chiefs teammates such as Orlando Brown Jr., Travis Kelce (and girlfriend Kayla Nicole), Demarcus Robinson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Tyrann Mathieu (and fiancée Sydni Russell) are among those who are expected to attend. Mathieu has already begun posting some pictures from the island.

Other guests include Mahomes’ trainer Bobby Stroupe and Arizona Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury, who coached Mahomes at Texas Tech.

Why did Sean Payton offer to loan Alvin Kamara his mariachi band?

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton congratulated RB Alvin Kamara on his new job with NASCAR by loaning the mariachi band from his wedding.

The New Orleans Saints experienced a fun crossover last weekend on social media, with Saints coach Sean Payton marrying his fiancée Skylene Montgomery at a resort in Mexico (wearing Air Jordan 1 sneakers that matched his white tuxedo, which may or may have not been gifted to him by Jordan brand ambassador Michael Thomas).

That preceded news that Kamara had been hired by NASCAR as the organization’s first adviser for growth and engagement, making the four-time Pro Bowl running back something of a two-sport star. Kamara became a fan of driver Bubba Wallace and even sponsored his own car at Daytona, driven by Ryan Vargas. He’s been a common sight at their events ever since it got on his radar last summer.

So when Kamara joked with Payton on Twitter about the obligations to his new job, his coach was quick to congratulate him — offering to send the mariachi band serenading his wedding guests over to Kamara’s place to celebrate the occasion. Of course the peace and quiet Payton could then enjoy for his honeymoon would be nothing more than a nice side effect.

The offseason is in a bit of a lull, but things are going well for the Saints in their various pursuits. Payton is off to begin his second marriage, Kamara is making waves in his new second gig, and the Saints front office is busy at work on a contract extension with All-Pro tackle Ryan Ramczyk (which should be a blockbuster). That’s on top of the team’s best-in-the-NFL pace for vaccinating its staff and players against COVID-19. Let’s see if more positivity is on the way as training camp approaches.

Pair of Warriors fans tie knot outside Chase Center with Jordan Poole as witness

Lindsay Hirsch and Dustin Schneider celebrated their wedding day outside of San Francisco’s Chase Center with Jordan Poole as their witness.

On Saturday, wedding bells were ringing on the outside of Chase Center.

While their initial idea was to tie the knot at Walt Disney World, Lindsay Hirsch and Dustin Schneider’s wedding day plans were changed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead of walking down the aisle, the pair of Golden State Warriors fans walked the path through San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood to the Chase Center. With Jordan Poole as their witness, Hirsh and Schneider said, “I do” in front of the home of their favorite team.

With friends and family watching the social distanced ceremony virtually on Facebook Live, the Chase Center outside video board was lit up with fireworks and cheers of congratulations.

Both Schneider and Hirsh were presented yellow Golden State “The Bay” jerseys with the number five and 23 stitched into the kit — noting the date of their special day. While watching the wedding, Poole was suited in a custom 5-23 Warriors jersey.

On Instagram, the Warriors rookie congratulated the couple, calling the event “one of the dopest things” he’s been apart of.

Via @Ali_Thanawalla on Twitter:

Easily one of the dopest things I’ve been apart of! Congrats to Dustin and Lindsay. An amazing couple and even better people!

Texans DE J.J. Watt marries Chicago Red Stars’ Kealia Ohai

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt tied the knot with the Chicago Red Stars’ Kealia Ohai over the weekend.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is officially off the market.

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year married Chicago Red Stars forward Kealia Ohai over the weekend, sealing their covenant in holy matrimony.

Ohai and Watt got engaged over the 2019 offseason.

Per Watt’s answer to a question SB Nation Radio’s Jake Asman asked on June 11, 2019, there was an open bar at the reception.

“It’s open bar for everybody,” Watt said. “It’s the only way to make a good wedding.”

Open bar or not, the reception was very festive.

As to the logistics of how the Watts will lead a life of each spouse playing pro sports in separate cities, it shouldn’t be too difficult. The Red Stars play their season from late March through early September, which crosses over with the start of the Texans’ regular season. If anything, they will have to live in Chicago in the Texans’ offseason and in Houston during the Texans’ regular season.

Jon Rahm marries college sweetheart Kelley Cahill

Jon Rahm had an incredible year on the golf course in 2019, and he capped it off by marrying his college sweetheart, Kelley Cahill.

Jon Rahm had an incredible year on the golf course in 2019.

In 20 events on the PGA Tour, Rahm earned 12 finishes inside the top 10, including a win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Ryan Palmer, a T-9 finish at the Masters and T-3 at the U.S. Open. Across the pond, Rahm earned European Tour player of the year honors thanks to wins at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, Spanish Open and then the final event of the 2019 season, the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, finishing the season as the European No. 1.

The 25 year-old-Spaniard is doing even better off the course.

Rahm proposed to his college sweetheart, Kelley Cahill, in June 2018 before the U.S. Open while on a hike in La Jolla, California. On Friday, Rahm and Cahill officially tied the knot in Spain.

Earlier this month at the Hero World Challenge, Rahm painted a picture of a lovely Catholic wedding at the church he grew up going to in Bilbao, Spain, and explained what he was looking forward to most about the big day.

“I think when I see those doors open and see her walking down the aisle for the first time, I think it’s going to be what I’m looking forward to the most, that first moment of seeing her walk down the aisle,” Rahm said of the day. “But there’s so many possible parts of the day I could mention, but I think that’s the single moment probably that I’m looking forward to the most.”
