Alabama fans react to Tyler Buchner and slow start in Week 3

Alabama fans react to slow start vs. USF start during weather delay

Week 3 was supposed to be a tune-up game for the Tide before heading into conference play against Ole Miss next week. However, things could not have started slower for the Tide as they trail USF 3-0. Alabama may have caught a break as the game was delayed by lightning allowing the Tide a chance to regroup.

Former Notre Dame quarterback, Tyler Buchner, made his first career start for the Tide and fans are not thrilled with what they have seen. Going into the delay, Buchner is 4-10 for 25 yards with a couple of balls dug into the dirt. In his defense, the weather was less than stellar from the start which inevitably led to the delay.

Former Tide players and fans chipped in to share their assesment from Alabama’s slow start:

Notre Dame-NC State: Game delayed in second quarter

Rain, rain – go away (more specifically the lightning)

Just moments into the second quarter of Saturday’s Notre Dame-North Carolina State game, lightning struck in the area and the entire field and stands needed cleared.  The thunderstorms have remained in the area as the two teams remain in a holding pattern.

Each time lighting strikes in the area, 30 minutes are put back on the clock to countdown before anyone can retake the field.  In other words – we could be here a while.

Notre Dame leads 3-0 thanks to a program-long, 54-yard field goal by Spencer Shrader.

In the meantime, since “This Week in Baseball” isn’t available, enjoy a few photos from the first 16-plus minutes of action.

LSU Baseball Schedule Change: Friday night’s start at Ole Miss pushed back

The series opener against the Rebels has been moved back to 8:30 p.m. CT due to the threat of inclement weather.

Friday night’s series opener against the Ole Miss Rebels has been moved back to 8:30 p.m. due to the threat of inclement weather.

LSU enters the game at 29-7 after dropping their midweek game to Louisiana-Lafayette 8-5 in Baton Rouge. The Tigers will look to bounce back with their ace [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] on the mound. In his last two starts, Skenes has looked human. He has allowed six runs in his last nine innings of work.

Ole Miss enters the series 21-16 and is currently the last-place team in the SEC. It dropped its series against Mississippi State last weekend before beating Arkansas State 6-3 on Tuesday. The Rebels are the only team in the SEC that has yet to win a conference series this season. They are looking to change that at home against LSU.

LSU does not play a ranked conference series for the rest of the season starting with this series against Ole Miss.

LSU Baseball Schedule Change: Game 3 vs. South Carolina canceled

The game will not be made up. LSU will travel to face Tulane on Tuesday for its next game.

There will be no winner-take-all Game 3 between LSU and South Carolina. The teams went 1-1 against each other this weekend, but mother nature went 2-0 against both of them.

Game 3 was rescheduled from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT, but the rain hasn’t moved away from Columbia at all and the game was called off. It will not be made up at a later date.

The next time these two teams meet would be in the SEC tournament or regionals/supers/Omaha. The Tigers will now turn their attention to the Tulane Green Wave as they travel to New Orleans to take them on this Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Though a series win would have been nice, this could be a blessing in disguise for LSU’s pitching staff, which has been depleted via injuries. This will give them a few days to rest and try to get back to 100%.

Time change for LSU baseball’s series finale against Samford

The Tigers’ Sunday game has been moved up to 11 a.m. CT.

Initially, LSU was supposed to play Samford on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT, but due to the threat of rain, that game has now been moved to 11 a.m.

LSU plays Samford on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to try and extend its current win streak and increase its overall record to 14-1.

This is the last weekend of non-conference play so the Tigers are trying to finish it off strong before they start conference play next weekend on the road against Texas A&M.

If LSU wants to prove just how great this team is, they will do it in conference play against the best conference in college baseball. The SEC boasts 6 of the top 10 teams in baseball according to the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Two of LSU’s first three conference series are against top 10 teams (No. 2 Tennessee and No. 8 Arkansas).

Texans coach Lovie Smith says he took a nap during weather delay before kickoff against the Titans

Houston Texans coach Lovie Smith says he took a nap during the weather delay that postponed kickoff with the Tennessee Titans in Week 16.

Rolling blackouts in the Nashville area forced kickoff between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans to endure a weather delay on Christmas Eve.

The 12:00 p.m. Central Time kickoff was postponed an hour with the decision being made 90 minutes before scheduled kickoff. The decision meant that the Texans and Titans would not square off for another two and a half hours.

Coach Lovie Smith can account for about 20 of those extra minutes.

I think I might have taken a nap for about 20 of those minutes,” Smith said.

The sugarplums in Smith’s head of beating the Titans came to life as Houston snapped its nine-game losing streak with a 19-14 win over Tennessee.

Smith told the players to use the extra time to mentally prepare themselves to take on the Titans.

Said Smith: “That’s pretty much what the guys you know — ‘Hey, guys, we’ve got an extra hour. We’ll get back on our routine an hour from now.’ Right now, you’ve got a little bit more time to mentally get prepared to play.”

There were initially talks of postponing the game to another day, but a one-hour weather delay ahead of kickoff was sufficient.

“So, ‘Hey, guys, we’re not postponing the game. The game is going on, so get ready to go,'” Smith said. “That’s what they did.”

The Texans forced rookie quarterback Malik Willis to throw two interceptions and forced a fumble of running back Derrick Henry. The Texans have now won three of their last four contests at Nissan Stadium and are currently on a two-game winning streak in that venue.

Report: Texans vs. Titans kickoff to be postponed up to an hour

The kickoff between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans could be delayed up to an hour due to power outages in the Nashville area.

The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans may have to wait a little bit before they can settle their season series.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the Week 16 tilt between the Texans and Titans, slated for a 12:00 p.m. Central Time kickoff, is expected to be pushed back an hour due to power issues in the area.

The temperature on the ground in Nashville is 16 degrees. There was only light snowfall on the field at Nissan Stadium. Otherwise, it is sunny with no expectation for precipitation.

The last time the Texans played in Nashville on Nov. 21, 2021, a torrential downpour made for sloppy conditions as Houston prevailed 22-13.

The last time Houston had a weather delay was Nov. 15, 2020, when lightning in the area affected kickoff between the Texans and Cleveland Browns from FirstEnergy Stadium. The Texans lost 10-7.

The 12th Man makes the best of the weather delay

The 12th Man makes the best of the weather delay

As the Aggies found themselves gearing up for the second half, leading the Bearkats by a score of 17-0, the third quarter was halted due to severe weather passing through College Station. While fans were asked to seek indoor shelter, there were some extremely dedicated fans who enjoyed the weather delay from their seats – making the best of the downpour and keeping the energy high. As if we needed more proof of how great the “12th Man” is, the near 98,000 spectators didn’t let a weather delay ruin their 2022 College Football season opener.

Check out how social media and the “12th Man” responded to the near three-hour long weather day:

Weather delay rocks second round of Augusta National Women’s Amateur, altering Friday’s schedule at Augusta National Golf Club

A 7.5 hour weather delay shook up the schedule this week in Augusta.

EVANS, Ga. — As if the Augusta National Women’s Amateur wasn’t challenging enough as is, inclement weather has made the third playing of one of the biggest events in women’s golf even more difficult.

Before players could begin their second round at 7:30 a.m. ET Thursday morning at Champions Retreat Golf Club, inclement weather forced a seven-and-a-half hour delay, creating questions about Friday’s practice round down the road at Augusta National Golf Club. But the sun came out in the afternoon, and play resumed at 3 p.m. ET, setting up a race against the sunset.

Nine players were able to finish their second rounds when play was suspended at 7:52 p.m. ET. The last groups will need to finish nine holes when play resumes Friday morning at Champions Retreat at 7:30 a.m. ET.

Five players were under par following the first round, but none were in the red when the horn sounded Thursday night. ANWA three-timer Beatrice Wallin – who has her brother on the bag – USC freshman phenom Amari Avery and Michigan’s Hailey Borja are all tied atop the leaderboard at even par. Borja was the lone player under par before making bogey on No. 11, her final hole of the day.

The top-30 players will advance to Saturday’s final round at Augusta National, and a playoff will take place if necessary following the second round. The players will then make their way to Augusta National for an afternoon practice round, with the time yet to be determined.

As it stands, 11 players are battling for five spots in the top 30, with 20 players just four shots outside the current projected cut of 5 over.
