Vit Krecji discusses career night vs. Bulls in Hawks victory

After his career-night in the Atlanta Hawks’ win over the Chicago Bulls, Vit Krejci shared his thoughts.

It’s been that type of season for the Chicago Bulls. They started the season 5-14 and have since turned it around, but they still find themselves stuck in the 9-10 Play-In Tournament picture. They’re battling it out with the Atlanta Hawks to see who will have home-court advantage in the game, but the Bulls’ loss to the Hawks on Monday was brutal.

With the loss, the Bulls are now just one game ahead of the Hawks in ninth, and Vit Krejci went off. The 23-year-old forward had one of the best games of his career against the Bulls, helping lead them to a win.

After the game, Krejci spoke about his big night. (H/t Andrew Seligman of the Chicago Tribune)

“It’s just a confidence,” Krejci said. “You knock down a couple. The team was playing well. I think the reason why we shot the ball well today was we just were moving the ball. When you get a 3 off of three passes or a kickout or something like that, it always feels better than a one-pass 3.”

Of all the night for Krejci to go off, it had to be against the Bulls.

Mark Daigneault comments on the Vit Krejci trade and Moe Harkless’ status with the Thunder

“We obviously wish him luck. We’ll be rooting for him.”

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault spoke with the media following Wednesday’s training camp practice and provided his thoughts on the Vit Krejci trade that occurred on Tuesday.

The Thunder traded Krejci to the Atlanta Hawks for Maurice Harkless, a 2029 first-round pick, and amendments to a 2025 second-round pick that is now top-40 protected.

Daigneault refused to comment on Harkless’ future, deferring to general manager Sam Presti. Daigneault spoke highly of Krejci, saying he’s proud of his Thunder tenure and ability to overcome his torn ACL.

“We’re grateful for every player that comes here. We want players to leave here better than when they came in. When we drafted Vit, he had a torn ACL. His time with us started with a 12-month rehab, which is really really hard…

“Vit’s a guy trying to establish himself in professional basketball and can’t play. And then even when he got healthy, he had physical setbacks last year, multiple times.

“And the one thing — I said is to the team last night, I said to Vit last night and I’ll say to you guys — is he should be proud of it. No matter what that guy was enduring, whether it was hurt or healthy, whether he was playing or not playing, Blue or Thunder, his energy level always sustained. And that’s impressive because he endured a lot of setbacks and adversities. But it’s the importance of growing through experience because it’s hard to be a professional basketball player and for different reasons for different guys, but I was always impressed with the optimism he brought to that I think will bode well for him.

“We obviously wish him luck. We’ll be rooting for him.”

Report: Thunder acquire Moe Harkless, pick from Hawks for Vit Krejci

The Oklahoma City Thunder will acquire Moe Harkless and a pick from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Vit Krejci.

As the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to rebuild, they pulled off a deal on Tuesday to bring in a reliable veteran.

The Thunder acquired Moe Harkless and a second-round pick from the Atlanta Hawks for Vit Krejci. Harkless spent the 2021-22 season with the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 47 games with 24 starts in Sacramento, and he shot 30.7% from deep. He was traded to the Hawks in the offseason in the Kevin Huerter deal.

Harkless is a 10-year vet who can at least lend a helping hand to the youngsters on the Thunder and help push them forward.

As for Krejci, he played 30 games for Oklahoma City in his rookie season and he averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds and he shot 32.7% from deep. Those numbers will be sent to the Hawks as he looks to find his place in the league.

OKC Thunder Twitter: Vit Krejci experiences first Oklahoma tornado weather

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Vit Krejci took to Twitter to express his first experience of dealing with Oklahoma tornado weather.

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Vit Krejci finally became an Oklahoman as he went through the rite of passage of experiencing the first tornado warning of his time in the state. Oklahoma City experienced severe weather on Saturday with tornado warnings flooding the state. Kreji noted that he overstocked on water and food supplies when he heard of the warning. Krejci, who recently underwent knee surgery, appears to be back in Oklahoma City as he rehabs his knee.

OKC Thunder news: Bleacher Reports hands out grade for the Thunder rookie class

. @BleacherReport handed out grades for each team’s rookie class and Thunder fans should be excited for what it got back pertaining their rookies.

Bleacher Report released an article on Thursday that handed out grades for each team’s rookie class this past season. With the Oklahoma City Thunder currently in a rebuilding situation, this gives the team the luxury to play its young players heavy minutes as player development matters more than actual wins.

This is reflective of the fact that its entire rookie draft class in Josh Giddey, Tre Mann, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Aaron Wiggins played significant minutes when healthy. Other rookies such as Lindy Waters III and Vit Krejci also made their NBA debuts this season.

With that said, Bleacher Report handed the Thunder an “A-” grade for its rookie class, citing Giddey’s phenomenal rookie season despite missing a third of the season due to hip soreness along with contributions from the rest of its draft class.

“The Oklahoma City Thunder closed the campaign with a tank-tastic six rookies on the roster, including four 2021 draft picks, a 2020 pick who missed last season with a torn ACL (Vit Krejci) and a 24-year-old who inked a two-way deal in mid-February and still saw 465 minutes (Lindy Waters III).

Josh Giddey, the No. 6 overall pick, served as the crown jewel and might have pushed for Rookie of the Year honors had he not been forced off the floor in February by a season-ending hip injury. Even with the ailment, though, he finished as the lone freshman to tally at least 500 points, 400 rebounds and 300 assists. In another nod to his across-the-board contributions, he had four triple-doubles—or one more than the rest of the NBA’s rookie class combined.

Tre Mann finished with a sub-40 field-goal percentage, but his streak scoring yielded seven 20-point outings. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl did a little of everything while nestling into a glue-guy role. Aaron Wiggins made 35 starts and popped for 20-plus points four times. Krejci played just 30 games and recently underwent knee surgery. Waters, an Oklahoma native, splashed 36.3 percent of his threes.”

It’s a win for the organization that the rookies were able to play a ton of minutes and contribute this season. With that said, that doesn’t mean all of these players will be on the next contending title team as one solid rookie season doesn’t mean a solid NBA career, but it is a nice first step to make.

OKC Thunder player grades: Franchise secures fourth-best lottery odds with 50-point loss to Clippers

That’s it, it’s over.

The Oklahoma City Thunder wrapped up its 2021-22 season by securing the fourth-best lottery odds with a 138-88 blowout loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday.

The Thunder entered the game with its best-case scenario being attaining sole possession of the fourth-best odds due to a Detroit Pistons loss with the worst-case scenario being it ties for the fourth-best odds with the Indiana Pacers.

The Clippers — who were without Paul George, Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris Sr. and Norman Powell — thoroughly dominated this game. There was no funny business this time around as the Clippers led by double digits for almost the entirety of the game.

Meanwhile, the Thunder stuck by its extremely shorthanded rotation by only playing six players with five of them playing over 40 minutes. In all likelihood, most — if not all — of the players who touched the floor this game will not return for the Thunder next season. But give them credit for going out there and playing heavy doses of minutes recently as the team tried to lose as many games as possible to maximize its lottery odds. Let’s take one final look at player grades for the regular-season finale.
