[autotag]Alexander Volkov[/autotag] earned one of the most important wins of his career on Saturday when he defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the UFC Fight Night 207 headliner.

Volkov (35-10 MMA, 9-4 UFC) rebounded from a deflating first-round submission loss to Tom Aspinall in March with a TKO of Jairzinho Rozenstruik (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) just over two minutes into the opening round of the heavyweight main event at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

“Drago” kept his name among the relevant contenders in the weight class with the victory, and afterward opened up about his strong desire to eventually fight for the championship.

It’ll take some work to get there, though, and Volkov knows as much.

How can he do it? Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on Volkov’s future after UFC Fight Night 207.

[autotag]Jairzinho Rozenstruik[/autotag] is on the first losing skid of his career after falling short against Alexander Volkov in the UFC Fight Night 207 headliner.

Rozenstruik (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) suffered a first-round TKO loss to Volkov (35-10 MMA, 9-4 UFC) in the heavyweight main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. With the result, he’s now dropped three of his past four overall.

It’s now uncharted territory for Rozenstruik in his fighting career after debuting with the UFC just over three years ago as an undefeated fighter.

Former Sixers star Andre Iguodala out for Warriors in Game 2 vs. Celtics

Former Philadelphia 76ers star Andre Iguodala is out for Game 2 for the Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics.

As the Golden State Warriors get set to take on the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the Warriors found out that they would be without a former Philadelphia 76ers star.

Former Sixers All-Star Andre Iguodala, who spent his first eight seasons in Philadelphia, has been dealing with a neck injury he suffered in Round 1 against the Denver Nuggets. After missing all of the Western Conference finals, Iguodala returned in Game 1 and had seven points off the bench in the loss.

As the Warriors get set for Game 2 on Sunday night, Iguodala has been ruled out for this one as he is still dealing with the injury.

As Golden State looks to get even with the series before shifting to Boston on Wednesday, they will need to find a way to stop former Sixer, Al Horford. The former Philadelphia big man had six triples in Game 1, the most he’s ever made in an NBA game.

Jeff Molina disappointed by fan backlash for wearing UFC’s Pride Month shorts: ‘It’s f*cking ridiculous’

Jeff Molina goes off at the criticism he received for wearing UFC’s Pride Month shorts at UFC Fight Night 207.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Jeff Molina[/autotag] is not happy with a portion of the MMA community.

The UFC flyweight prospect fought and won on Saturday night while wearing the rainbow-colored font fight shorts the UFC released in support of Pride Month. Molina (11-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who earned a split decision win over Zhalgas Zhumagulov at UFC Fight Night 207, said he received plenty of fan backlash in the lead up to the fight when he announced he’d be wearing the shorts come fight night at the UFC Apex.

The 24-year-old Molina was surprised to receive such a response.

“I was honestly shocked,” Molina told reporters at the post-fight news conference. “So I picked the colors because I thought it looked cool and then also it supports a good cause, you know. But I will support anything of a community that’s been oppressed and ostracized for some time now for something they can’t help. I’ll get behind any of that.

“I just thought in 2022 people will be a little more like open-minded and not pieces of sh*t. But, I guess I was wrong. It’s just crazy to me. Like, people were saying some, like crazy sh*t.”

[lawrence-related id=2550764,2551088]

Not only was Molina surprised by the fan backlash, but also upset about it. He calls for more tolerance in the community.

“Dude, it’s f*cking ridiculous,” Molina said. “Man, who would have thunk that in 2022 people are still, who the f*ck cares, bro? Like honestly, it’s not even about being an ally. I’m not saying I’m not, but it’s like just be a f*cking decent person. Like just be a decent human being.

“Like judging someone and trying to justify with religion and saying all sorts of like just spiteful, hateful sh*t, it’s crazy, it’s crazy to me. It’s mind-boggling. It’s like who cares who someone wants to be with or like their sexual preference like and then trying to justify, the irony of trying to justify it by religion or something that’s supposed to be so accepting.”

Video: Alarming scene in African boxing bout as stunned boxer fights non-existent opponent

Watch boxer out of all senses swing at mid air, fighting non-existent opponent in mid title bout in South Africa.

Uncomfortable scenes were captured in a recent boxing bout in Africa.

On Sunday afternoon, a video emerged of then-unbeaten boxer Simiso Buthelezi becoming puzzled and swinging in mid-air opposite to his opponent Siphesihle Mntungwa during their contest for the WBF African lightweight title. The bout took place at the Greyville Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa.

The incident occurred in the 10th round of the bout soon after Mntungwa fell through the ropes during an exchange with Buthelezi. Mntungwa quickly got back in the ring and the referee restarted the action. It was then that Buthelezi seemed to lose his senses. He turned away from his opponent, toward the referee, and then began swinging punches as he approached an empty corner of the ring.

The referee immediately stopped the fight and the win was awarded to Mntungwa. According to Tim Boxeo Twitter account, which posted the video, Buthelezi is currently in stable condition and will be overlooked over the next few days.

Below you can watch the frighting video:

In an update posted on the thread, it appears Buthelezi is in stable condition after the fight.

“Sources share that Simiso Buthelezi is currently in stable condition in South Africa and in the next few days more will be learned as to what could have potentially caused a very scary and odd response in the ring,” Tim Boxeo wrote on Twitter.

Ultimately, this was a scary scene that serves as a reminder that combat sports athletes really do put their heath and wellbeing on the line when they step in to compete.

Jack Nicklaus says that he never broke a golf club ‘on purpose’ during competition

During the 2022 Jack Nicklaus Award ceremony, the Memorial host says that he never broke a club “on purpose.”

DUBLIN, Ohio — The old line attributed to Jack Nicklaus is “I never missed a putt; somehow it just didn’t go in.”

Whether he actually said it, who knows? But now we have another witticism to ponder: “The Golden Bear never broke a golf club in anger; his golf bag broke it.”

During the Jack Nicklaus Award ceremony at Muirfield Village Golf Club, during which five college players were honored, the Memorial Tournament host noted that he never broke a club “on purpose” during competition.

“In play? Zero,” Nicklaus said. “How many times have I broken one accidentally? I had a 3-wood that I used since 1958 … and used until the (1989) PGA Championship in Chicago. I hit a shot (into the water), took my club and put it in the bag and (it) hit the side of the bag. I didn’t mean to hurt anything.”

Nicklaus did not notice until the next day that the 3-wood was in two pieces.

The only other time Nicklaus broke a club during play was when his 3-wood snapped during a swing “and all the sudden it wrapped around my back. The shot went down the middle though.”

Former NFL player, UFC fighter Greg Hardy set for professional boxing debut

After stops in the NFL and UFC, Greg Hardy will test the waters in the ranks of professional boxing.

MMA is on hold, but [autotag]Greg Hardy[/autotag] fights on.

A former NFL and UFC athlete, Hardy will make his professional boxing debut Oct. 8 for Black Sheep Boxing promotions in Delray Beach, Fla. The opponent and number of rounds have not been announced at this time.

Hardy, 33, is a former NFL standout who entered the world of mixed martial arts in 2017. After a 3-0 tenure as an amateur, Hardy turned professional on the inaugural episode of Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 2. He defeated fellow NFL alum Austen Lane via TKO in 57 seconds and earned himself a UFC developmental contract.

Less than two months later, he returned to DWCS and defeated Tebaris Gordon via TKO in 17 seconds. Following one more professional win, under the Xtreme Fight Night banner, Hardy signed a UFC contract. Hardy’s UFC signing was met with criticism due to past accusations of domestic violence.

After some initial success with a 4-2 start to his UFC tenure, Hardy struggled to succeed with an increased level of opposition. The UFC elected not to re-sign Hardy following his TKO loss to Serghei Spivac on March 5. The defeat was his third in a row via first-round TKO. He departed the UFC with a 4-5 promotional record.

Trail Blazers are hosting solo workout with Bennedict Mathurin

The meeting with Portland is the first known workout for Mathurin ahead of the NBA draft.

Projected lottery pick Bennedict Mathurin will reportedly work out with the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, according to team reporter Casey Holdahl.

Mathurin, the Pac-12 Player of the Year, averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal in 37 games last season. His 655 points scored this season ranked ninth-most in program history as he shot 45% from the floor and 36.9% from 3-point range.

The 6-foot-6 guard is viewed as an exceptional 3-point shooter and has the tools to develop into a knockdown shooter at the next level. He will need to improve as a defender but has the size and strength needed to emerge on that end of the floor.

[mm-video type=video id=01g4n0hnyr6r97xvj9rj playlist_id=01f09kz5ecxq9bp57b player_id=01f1jxkahtwnvzepyp image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01g4n0hnyr6r97xvj9rj/01g4n0hnyr6r97xvj9rj-f65cbca9fc8199ea71f46feabd57c718.jpg]

The Trail Blazers enter the NBA draft with the seventh overall pick but are heavily rumored into wanting to trade it in order to acquire players that can help them win now. However, they have also been linked to Mathurin as his addition projects to be a good fit with their roster.

Portland will be among the teams to watch ahead in the coming weeks that could be busy on draft night. The organization wants to build a competitive roster around Damian Lillard and figures to be active in those discussions.

The NBA draft will take place on June 23.

NFL.com: Bills have third ‘most-complete roster’ in league

NFL.com: #Bills have third ‘most-complete roster’ in league:

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbw1j59gmjw5gdj player_id=none image=https://billswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

Josh Allen is in the offseason spotlight as of late, but he cannot take the Buffalo Bills to the top alone.

It takes an entire team.

In that regard, NFL.com thinks the Bills are set in that area as well. Ranking the top-five “most-complete rosters” in the league, Buffalo clocked in at No. 3.

Here’s the breakdown:

Josh Allen continues to get better. So does his supporting cast. The Bills added a slot receiver to the passing attack in Jamison Crowder, a complement to Dawson Knox in O.J. Howard and bolstered the backfield with James Cook, who should spark an up-and-down running game. Buffalo kept most of its offensive line intact but did bring in guards David Quessenberry and Rodger Saffold on one-year deals. There is no spectacular player on the O-line but it’s certainly a solid group.

Sean McDermott and Leslie Frazier had the league’s top-ranked defense in 2021, and the unit could be even better this year after making key additions. I believe the Bills have the best secondary in the league on paper with safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde pairing with cornerbacks Tre’Davious White, who’s recovering from a Thanksgiving Day ACL injury, and first-round draft pick Kaiir Elam. The linebacking corps is solid with Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, who excel in their specific roles. Gregory Rousseau and Boogie Basham have an opportunity to make the leap in 2022 — especially with key departures along the defensive line — but the real highlight of the Bills’ offseason was the signing of two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller. He makes everyone on the Bills’ defense better just by being on the field.

Slapped right in the middle, here’s the rest of NFL.com’s ranking around the Bills:

  • 5. Denver Broncos
  • 4. Kansas City Chiefs
  • 3. Buffalo Bills
  • 2. Los Angeles Chargers
  • 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
