Usher snuggling up with Alicia Keys at his Super Bowl halftime show led to the same Swizz Beatz joke

Did somebody tell Usher that Alicia Keys is married?

Usher got up close and personal with Alicia Keys during his Super Bowl halftime show, and the internet all made the same jokes about her husband, Swizz Beatz.

Usher’s halftime performance was spectacular. Like his Las Vegas residency, it brought all the glitz and glam of the city to the Super Bowl. It also had guest appearances from some familiar faces during Usher’s career, like Lil Jon and Ludacris. But it’s his performance with Alicia Keys that has the internet talking.

Usher brought out his My Boo counterpart to the delight of the crowd and wrapped his arms around her while they were singing. Viewers could also see Alicia lean back into him and let out a playful laugh.

The internet immediately caught the details of the moment, and all made the same husband-related joke.

Why Usher didn’t include Justin Bieber in the Super Bowl halftime show

Justin Bieber wasn’t part of Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show, but there’s a good reason why.

Usher’s halftime show at Super Bowl 58 was a marvelous, star-studded affair that spanned the breadth of the artist’s career. But unfortunately, for many music fans, a certain someone was missing from the performance.

Justin Bieber — who collaborated with Usher on his 2010 hit “Somebody To Love” — was in attendance in Las Vegas for the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, but didn’t take the field for the halftime show. While it wasn’t a certainty that Bieber would perform alongside Usher, fans were certainly hoping for another collaboration between the two.

While Bieber’s absence disappointed fans, it actually shouldn’t come as a surprise. Ahead of his Super Bowl performance, Usher said he wanted to pay tribute to Black artists who paved the way for him in his show:

“It’s a major thing for me,” Usher said. “I think about what our country has kind of represented for Black artists, you know, having to at some point go through kitchens to even be able to perform for an audience, but they had to leave back through that same door, fear for their lives as they went to the next state to do the same thing. So I’m coming through the front door with this one.”

Makes sense! The set was an incredible showcase of R&B talent, from Alicia Keys to Lil Jon and more. Plus, with how fast-paced the show was, it just seemed like an appearance from Bieber wasn’t in the cards.

Here’s how NFL fans reacted to Bieber’s no-show during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Usher on roller skates at his incredible Super Bowl halftime show had fans in a frenzy

This performance is the highlight of the Super Bowl so far

Seeing Usher performing at the Super Bowl was already a treat. And what a performance it was. For my money, it’s certainly one of the best Super Bowl performances in recent memory.

But, man. Watching him do part of it on skates? Nah. That was next level.

His stage presence is already top-tier. But then you throw a pair of skates in there? That’s like adding the perfect chocolate syrup to your ice cream. Come on, man. Usher ain’t playing fair.

This man was really out here on skates. SINGING IT. GETTING IT.

Y’all have to see it to believe it.

Fans loved it, man.

12 electric photos of Usher’s star-studded 2024 Super Bowl halftime show performance

Usher’s 2024 Super Bowl halftime show was electric.

Usher performed the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and as the “King of Las Vegas” himself, it was unsurprisingly an electric performance that seemed to transfer his Vegas residency to the Super Bowl field.

With the San Francisco 49ers leading the Kansas City Chiefs at the half, 10-3, Usher hit the field and performed songs like “Caught Up,” “Love in this Club” and “Confessions.”

But he wasn’t alone with a ton of musical guests. Alicia Keys also joined him on the piano at one point, singing a few lines from “If I Ain’t Got You,” and H.E.R. came out with an awesome guitar solo. And, of course, Ludacris and Lil Jon came out for “Yeah!”

Usher even got on roller skates in the second half of the show!

Super Bowl halftime show review: Usher stunned with a very Vegas show including roller skates and so many hits

Usher was truly fantastic.

Usher’s halftime performance at the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas may have caused singing, dancing, sweating, gyrating, and possible relationship issues.

The incredible musician, who arrived at the Super Bowl while seemingly wearing a blanket, had a tough act to follow after a delightful performance from Rihanna last season.

But we are talking about Usher, who took over Las Vegas long before he was tasked with performing at the Super Bowl. Remember, there is a reason why GQ called him the new king of Vegas.

This was a fantastic all-around performance from Usher, who kept the energy high at Allegiant Stadium after an uneventful first half between the 49ers and the Chiefs.

Although it was teased by Ludacris and Lil Jon, the performance did not begin with “Yeah!” (which came later in the show) but instead with a “My Way” and “Caught Up” medley.

He uniquely began the show, performing not on a stage but directly on the football field. The singer also brought out the marching band from Jackson State and then the always fabulous Alicia Keys, who wore a beautiful cape and joined him for a duet.

As predicted by our own Meghan L. Hall, other guest stars who joined Usher on the stage included Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R. (who played guitar on roller skates), Will.I.Am, Lil Jon (who is a longtime fan of the 49ers) and Ludacris.

(Despite rumors he would join, there is also a very good reason why Justin Bieber did not guest.)

Highlights of the performance included Usher wearing one glove like Michael Jackson and briefly going shirtless before roller skating on the stage himself.

Usher managed to fit 16 songs (and so many hits) into the length of the halftime show. Will this go down as one of the best halftime shows of all time?

If you thought so, now that his Super Bowl performance is completed, Usher is going on tour and is potentially bringing the magic to a city near you.
