Inter Miami welcomes the Houston Dynamo to DRV PNK Stadium Wednesday for the final of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Inter Miami vs. Houston odds, and make our best expert soccer picks and predictions.

F Lionel Messi will have a chance to win his 2nd cup since coming to Inter Miami this summer. Inter won the Leagues Cup by defeating Nashville SC in penalty kicks in August. To get to where they are in the U.S. Open Cup, they beat 3 USL sides, then Nashville SC and FC Cincinnati. The most impressive win was in penalty kicks on the road against the Eastern Conference-leading FCC. Inter sits 14th in the East, but has been a drastically improved side with Messi at the helm.

Houston has exceeded expectations in league play this season. It is 17-7-11 (11 losses) and has a +7 goal differential, having scored 42 and allowed 35. It had to go through 4 MLS teams and a USL side. The Dynamo beat Real Salt Lake 3-1 on Aug. 23 to advance to the final. Houston is led in scoring in MLS action by F Amine Bassi, who has 9 goals in 24 matches.

Inter Miami vs. Houston picks and predictions

Prediction

Inter Miami 2, Houston Dynamo 0

Moneyline (ML)

BET INTER MIAMI (-115).

The Dynamo have been awful on the road this season. They are 10-3-2 at home and 2-4-9 on the road, and they will be playing a side that, if they had Messi all season, could be a top-3 team in the Eastern Conference.

Inter is 2-1-0 with Messi on the Cup roster. Even in the draw, Miami has had more expected goals than its opponent in each home match. Couple the star power of Messi and M Sergio Busquets along with the trends in this location and back INTER MIAMI (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+120).

Houston has scored in just 2 of its last 6 road matches, and it has gone Under this total in 4 of its last 7 on the road. It just hasn’t performed well offensively away from home this season.

Inter has scored fewer than 3 goals in 4 of 7 matches since Messi’s arrival, and they have had 3 clean sheets in that span as well. With Messi potentially playing limited minutes, expect limited opportunities.

Take UNDER 2.5 (+120).

US Open Cup: FC Cincinnati vs. Inter Miami odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s FC Cincinnati vs. Inter Miami odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

FC Cincinnati welcomes Inter Miami to TQL Stadium Wednesday. Kickoff in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal is set for 7 p.m. ET (Paramount+). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the FC Cincinnati vs. Inter Miami odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

The U.S. Open Cup is a single-elimination tournament with several U.S.-based soccer leagues, including both the USL Championship and MLS. FC Cincinnati beat the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC 3-1 at home on June 6 and the New York Red Bulls 1-1 (5-3 penalty kicks) prior to that. FCC sits atop the Eastern Conference and is led by M Luciano Acosta, who has scored 12 goals in 23 MLS appearances.

Inter Miami just won the Leagues Cup on Saturday. In this tournament, it took down Nashville 2-1 on May 23 in the Round of 16, prior to the arrival of F Lionel Messi. In the quarterfinal, it beat Birmingham Legion FC 1-0. While last in the Eastern Conference table, Inter has won 7 straight games, all Leagues Cup action. It beat Nashville 1-1 (10-9) Saturday and Philadelphia 4-1 on Aug. 15, both road matches.

FC Cincinnati vs. Inter Miami picks and predictions

Prediction

Inter Miami 3, FC Cincinnati 2

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN INTER MIAMI (+100).

FC Cincinnati, after a 16-day layoff following its home loss to Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup Round of 32, lost 3-0 on Sunday to its rival, the Columbus Crew. FCC allowed 13 shots and 9 on frame in that match. Its defense has been solid this season, but it was poor in that showing and will be up against its most challenging foe yet.

Similarly, the Messi-led Inter are rolling, and it was noted that he will play after logging heavy minutes in the Leagues Cup. Messi and company should be able to shred through what was a slow backline for FCC.

While FCC should look better at home, expect Miami to get the job done, and Messi to eventually lift a second come within the first few months of his arrival in MLS.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+115).

FCC had the worst defense of any Eastern Conference team that made the playoffs last season, allowing 56 goals in 34 matches. This season has been far better, allowing just 28 in 24 matches while scoring 39. It has scored 2 or more goals in 4 of its last 5 MLS matches and has topped even this total in 3 of its last 5 MLS matches.

The presence of Messi should help push the pace and create opportunities. Miami has also struggled to defend. It has allowed 7 goals in its last 5 games and has allowed at least 1 goal in 4 of it last 5. FCC has a lethal attack, and both teams capabilities in the final third should be on full display.

Mixed with defending concerns, back OVER 3.5 (+115).

Sorteo U.S.

New York Red Bulls vs. Charlotte FC – 8 p.m. Hora del este

NYCFC vs. New England Revolution – 7:30 p.m. Hora del este

Orlando City vs. Inter Miami – 7 p.m. Hora del este

Louisville City vs. Nashville SC – 7 p.m. Hora del este

Sporting Kansas City vs. Houston Dynamo – 8:30 p.m. Hora del este

Minnesota United vs. Union Omaha – 8 p.m. Hora del este

LA Galaxy vs. LAFC – 10:30 p.m. Hora del este

Sacramento Republic vs. San Jose Earthquakes – 10:30 p.m. Hora del este

(los equipos locales se mencionan primero)

WATCH: Chiefs players support Sporting KC in US Open Cup win over FC Dallas

A contingent of #Chiefs players was in attendance for Sporting KC’s epic comeback win over the FC Dallas in the US Open Cup.

Sporting Kansas City mounted a crazy comeback win over Clark Hunt’s club, FC Dallas, during the opening round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Tuesday, May 10.

Things were looking bleak for the boys in blue at halftime, down 2-0 with little going right during the first half. When they came back out for the second half, they played with an entirely renewed energy. One of Sporting KC’s players thinks they had a little help with that from some special guests in attendance.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, TE Travis Kelce, WR Mecole Hardman, RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire and WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling all showed up to support Sporting KC for US Open Cup. Mahomes, of course, joined the Sporting KC ownership group last July.

When Sporting KC striker Marinos Tzionis tied the game up with a brilliant goal in the 98th minute of the second half, the energy in the stadium was palpable. The reaction from Mahomes, Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs contingent was just as good too.

Sporting KC would go on to score two more points against FC Dallas during 10 minutes of extra time, advancing to the US Open Cup Round of 16. Sporting KC has won the US Open Cup four times, with their last title coming in 2017.

Given the energy that Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs’ players seemed to bring, perhaps they’ll look to attend the next matchup as well.
